Cunning CEO: Ten Thousand Acts of Love

Chapter 2

Gu Wenwan's movements were swift, clean, and gentle, causing the little boy to gaze dumbly as she held his hand and tended to him.

Her caring demeanor made him feel warm. His grandmother said his mother was a doctor, and the first aid kit this sister took out was so professional. Could she also be a doctor?

Only after Gu Wenwan stuck a bandage on his hand did he muster a lost and pitiful look and say, "I got lost."

Gu Wenwan didn't suspect a thing, "Then tell me your name, I'll call the police for you."

"My name is Lu Xingchen, but you can call me Little Star." The young kid, Lu Xingchen, quickly improvised, "No need to call the police. My home is nearby, you can just take me home."

"But I've got something else to do."

"That's fine, I can wait for you." The little boy, Lu Xingchen, gripped Gu Wenwan's hand tightly, "Sister, you're so pretty, you definitely won't leave me alone, right?"

Overwhelmed with praise, Gu Wenwan's sense of justice soared, "Alright, alright, I will take you home later, but you need to be good and listen to me, okay?"

"Yes! What's your name, sister? Your bandaging skills are so impressive."

"My name is Wenwan. 'Wan' as in 'Good Evening'. I'm a doctor."

"Wenwan..." Little Star pronounced it carefully and then sweetly smiled, "I like this name."

So, she really is a doctor. Could it be his mother? His father who was a big bad guy, knew only to scold him every day, he really wanted to find his mother...

...

The country's tallest building, the 118th floor of the Lu Building, within the boundlessly spacious CEO Office.

Lu Sijue was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, smoking a cigarette and daydreaming while looking down at the city lights.

He hadn't touched a cigarette in a long time because she disliked it to the point that he didn't even know how to smoke it anymore.

He turned around and ruthlessly extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray.

Next to the ashtray were several thin pieces of paper, detailing all the experiences of the woman he had been looking for over the past year.

He felt happy, yet also a sense of loss.

He indeed found her, but it seemed as if she no longer had anything to do with him.

When they parted ways, he said harsh words and did coldhearted things because he didn't know if he would be able to come back alive. He thought this was the reason why she was avoiding him.

However, it turned out that she had contracted a severe case of meningitis four years ago and lost her memories of the year prior. Therefore, she no longer remembered him.

It was just as well she didn't remember. He would only make her smile this time around, and not shed a single tear.

This time, he absolutely would not leave her again.

While he was deep in thought, his phone suddenly rang.

His assistant nervously said on the other end, “Mr. Lu, the young master went missing again.”

"Where did he disappear?"

"On Prosperity Avenue. After school today, he suddenly told the driver to buy ice cream while passing by an ice cream shop. When the driver came back, he was gone," the assistant hastily added, "I have already sent out a search party."

"I’m coming there now."

Lu Sijue sighed, grabbed his car keys, and headed downstairs.

Though the brat hasn't been nice to him ever since he returned, and kept running away from home every now and then, he is after all his flesh and blood. If anything really happened to him, his grandmother would not let him off the hook.

...

Gu Wenwan walks out of the bathroom with Xiaoxingxing

*a child's name

. Ning Luoluo has also arrived, she tells Wenwan that the private room number is 212, so Wenwan heads over there.

Just as she arrives on the second floor, the door of the outermost private room suddenly opens, and out comes a person she never wants to see again - her cousin, Gu Anning.

Gu Anning is also clearly surprised to have bumped into her here. She is taken aback at first, then upon seeing Gu Wenwan holding a child's hand, a mocking smile appears on her face, "Gu Wenwan, are you here to introduce your bastard to your relatives?"

Gu Wenwan responds coldly, "Who among them is my relative? I don't seem to recognize any of them."

A familiar male voice comes from inside the private room, "Anning, did you run into someone you know?"

A delighted expression flashes across Gu Anning's face. Without any further comment, she pushes the two of them into the room, "Yes, I ran into Wenwan. Isn't it a coincidence?" She continues to close the door behind her, trapping them inside the room.

The voice, unsurprisingly, belongs to Shen Jiacheng.

Indeed, Shen Jiacheng has risen from a poor law student to a renowned top lawyer in Jiangcheng, all thanks to Gu Anning's support. How could he possibly want to leave her?

Gu Wenwan smirks.

A year ago, their family home accidentally caught fire and turned to ashes overnight. When she woke up in the hospital, she learned her parents had died tragically, and her younger brother was gravely injured. Before she even had a chance to grieve, she was informed that everything they owned had been taken by her uncle under the pretense of a debt. She pleaded with her uncle, saying she would give up everything as long as he could pay for her brother's surgery. What did he say again?

Oh, he said, "Canzhao

is already like this. Even if he is saved, he'll be a waste. It is better to let him die quickly."

She had no other choice, so she went to Shen Jiacheng to discuss how to get the company back from her uncle. Only then did she realize that he and Gu Anning had long been colluding. Gu Anning, in order to tarnish Wenwan's reputation, claimed that she came back from Country S while she was heavy with pregnancy during her final year in high school.

What a joke. That year she had to return because she was diagnosed with viral meningitis and had to be treated in the hospital for more than half a year. She had no time to have a child.

Shen Jiacheng had trust in Gu Anning, even when he helped their uncle seize her father's company... It was then that she realized that she had been blinded by love for the wrong person, and their three years' worth of affection was wasted.

She rarely thought about these old matters. She just wanted to go on with her schooling, take good care of her younger brother, and live her life well.

Unexpectedly, these people continued to haunt her in their ghostly ways.

"Jiacheng, you can see for yourself that I didn't deceive you. Wen Wan really did have a child at the age of eighteen. Look at this kid, doesn't he look like he is exactly four years old? Don't you think he resembles Wen Wan?"

In the dim light, Shen Jiacheng got up slowly and got closer to Gu Wen Wan.

"Wen Wan, is it true what Anning said? Is this really your son?"

Gu Wen Wan couldn't be bothered to talk with him, "Whether he is my son or not is none of your business. Please move aside. I have things to do."

She didn't notice that when Gu Anning said they looked alike, the eyes of the little star standing next to her suddenly brightened.

Thinking about it, he really did look like Wen Wan, even down to the mole at the corner of his eyes.

The little star's heart was beating rapidly in excitement.

...

The disappointment in Shen Jiacheng's eyes made Gu Anning very irritable. Despite so many years having passed, Shen Jiacheng was hers, but she knew his heart had never wholly belonged to her.

With a surge of resentment, her words became more venomous. "What are you in such a rush for? Going to sell yourself again, are you? You sold yourself for five hundred thousand in the past. How much will you cost this time?"

Infuriated, Gu Wen Wan turned around and sent a slap flying towards Gu Anning. Shen Jiacheng, standing between them, could have caught her hand, but he made no move to stop her.
