The lighting in the private room was dim. Winfred sat in the innermost part, his entire body hidden in the shadows, like a beast lurking in the depths, radiating an aura of coldness.
With a dignified manner, Judy lifted her wineglass, "Winfred, don't be angry. They were simply curious because they saw Elaine here."
Winfred's handsome face was hidden in the darkness, making it hard to decipher his expression.
For a moment, Judy wasn't sure if her words had resonated with him.
A rich young miss added fuel to the fire, "Mr. Lindberg, Elaine has been soaring high here as a waitress. Everyone knows that PURPLE is the leading establishment of the Geordie family. The phone just rang, everyone heard it. All the waitstaff here respectfully call her ‘Elaine’! When we asked for Elaine to serve us, one of the waitresses rolled up her sleeves and gave us a stern look, as if she were about to throw us out."
"If it weren't for someone backing her up, how dare a country girl like Elaine strut around PURPLE?"
A hint of malevolence flashed in Judy's eyes, yet her voice was cautious, "Winfred, perhaps Elaine had her difficulties to seek help from Mr. Geordie. When she comes later, let's listen to her explanation."
Before her words fell, a figure walked through the door.
With a slender figure, she wore a well-tailored work uniform that accentuated her exquisite figure.
"A former husband, a nominal sister with no blood relation, do I need to explain to you?" Elaine's face held a cold demeanor, forcing her gaze not to land on the familiar figure.
Winfred lifted his gaze, took a look at Elaine, and was momentarily lost for words.
Unseen for a month, Elaine seemed unchanged, yet somehow different.
Winfred stood up and walked over to Elaine.
His tall stature, cold and noble aura were familiar.
The familiar scent assaulted Elaine, causing her heart to skip a beat. Her left hand fingers clenched into her palm, just so she could maintain her indifferent expression.
Winfred asked, "Why are you here?"
Elaine shrugs and retorts, "Why can't I be here?"
Her noncooperation annoys Winfred. "Elaine, I’d think the share I gave you in our divorce agreement was enough to keep you comfortable for a lifetime. There's no reason for you to be here."
Elaine looks at Winfred. "Mr. Lindberg, I don't want to discuss personal matters here."
'Mr. Lindberg' fell into Winfred's ears.
Her gentle, soft voice irritates him, and the unpleasant aura around him suddenly intensifies.
He said, "Then let's discuss it elsewhere."
Elaine looked at him dead in the eye. "I don't think there's any need for us to talk!"
Winfred could feel the anger rising within him. With a cold expression, he warned, "Elaine!"
Elaine's gaze was indifferent, the eyes that once sparkled with love when she looked at Winfred had no emotions now.
After a tense minute, Winfred looked away, the suppressed anger visible in his profound eyes, he lightly dropped two words, "Suit yourself!
Judy watched their interaction. The atmosphere was clearly tense, but she saw something unusual.
Winfred, the future head of the Lindberg family, the most precious son of Harviell city, who is capricious, eager to fight, and never puts anyone in his eyes. She was only able to stand by his side because she had the status of 'the life-saver'.
Such a proud person, but Judy saw struggle and helplessness in him.
With a repressed aura covering his entire body, Winfred left, and Judy quickly caught up.
In the private room, only a group of wealthy young ladies who were there to stir trouble were left.
"Elaine, we are the guests. If you serve us well tonight, the tip you earn from this private room would be substantial, won't it?" someone heckled.
They had assumed that Elaine had successfully won over the Mr. Geordie, until a single phone call brought her running after PURPLE.
Elaine maintained a calm demeanour. She was wearing her work uniform, her long hair tied up, without makeup. Even though clearly a country girl, she now exuded an imposing air as she retorted, "Serve you? Sis, times have changed!"
As she turned to leave, someone stopped her. This person held a drink in his hand and ominously threatened, "Elaine, having offended Mr. Lindberg, do you think you could leave here unscathed?"
Elaine squinted, "Are you planning to stir trouble in PURPLE?"
"No, just offering you a drink. As long as you finish this drink, we can let bygones be bygones!"
The drink was a mix of Baijiu and Huangjiu served in a one-pound glass. A non-drinker would basically pass out before even managing to walk out of the door after just one serving.
They were resolute in making a fool out of Elaine.
"What's the matter? Afraid? If so, I can't guarantee your safety once you step out of the door. After all, Setlla is a businessman, and no businessman would let money slip away from his hands. So can you guess if he would be willing to become an enemy to us just for your sake?"
Elaine remained silent for over ten seconds.
The onlookers who were enjoying the show believed she was scared. Seeing her accept the glass of liquor, their ominous grins broadened with triumph on their faces.
Suddenly, the drink splashed on their faces.
"Elaine! Have you lost your mind?"
The persons who got doused with the drink were taken aback. The rest of the onlookers were left stunned.
How dare Elaine?
Among this group of people were the top circle of Harviell city, the backgrounds of many could rival the Geordie family. A woman who climbed to her position using her body, where did she get the courage to splash alcohol on them?
Elaine laughed lightly, her bright eyes filled with coldness.
"What a coincidence, I'm also curious about the answer."
Someone shouted from behind her, "Elaine, Setlla is nothing more than an insignificant younger son in the Geordie family. He can't even protect himself, let alone you. If you offend us, I want to see how he'll defend you!"
After Elaine left, four or five uniformed individuals suddenly flooded into the box.
"Perfect timing for your arrival! I want to lodge a complaint - the service at PURPLE is extremely poor, the staff are arrogant! Apologize, I want you to publicly apologize to me on the entire network!”
The manager said, "I'm sorry, dear customer..."
Hearing this, the person's face immediately showed a triumphant smile, but it froze in the next second.
“PURPLE does not welcome unreasonable customers. Please leave immediately!” With a gesture from the manager, the group of club staff members in high uniform stood up and made a gesture to expel the guests.
“Just you wait! We will call on our circle friends to boycott your PURPLE on the entire network!”
The manager remained unmoved, smiling formally, "Have the front desk cancel the VIP privileges of these customers. They are no longer allowed to enter PURPLE!"
A group of people were embarrassed and ushered out of the grand entrance of PURPLE, with the doorman still being the same young man from before.
Seeing the situation, he politely opened the door.
"Dear customer, as I said, Elaine is not a waitress!"
...
Elaine didn't know what was happening downstairs. When she returned to the top floor, she was cornered at the elevator entrance by Winfred.
She had suspicions in her heart, but she tried to pass by Winfred without showing any expressions.
Her wrist was caught. The force Winfred used wasn't hard, but Elaine felt a piercing pain at the point of contact.
It was just like the stinging sensation she felt years ago when she was cut with a sharp stone.
"Where do you live?" Winfred's voice was hoarse.
Elaine hooded her eyes, and responded indifferently, "Don't you think you're being too nosy, Mr. Lindberg?"
Winfred used a bit of force, he even sounded a bit out of breath, "Elaine! Watch your words!"
Elaine suddenly chuckled, "Do we even need to have a proper conversation?"
No sooner had her words fell, she was suddenly jerked forward, her back slamming into the wall behind her. Her arm was held high beside her ear by Winfred, his cool breath fanning her face. His handsome face enlarged in front of her eyes...
