With a burning gaze in her eyes, she walked up to the altar with sure and determined steps, like the sun bursting through the clouds in the darkest of days. When she got close enough, she looked into his eyes and said the words she wanted to say to him a long time ago. "I object."
The silence was deafening and for a second, it felt like the world stopped turning. He looked into her eyes with shock and disbelief. And then the crowd erupted. Confused murmurs filled the air. He looked like he wanted to say something but the words were stuck in his throat.
"You can't do this, Clara." He spoke in a voice that sounded both angry and pleading. His face was filled with a thousand emotions at once. She could see the questions in his eyes but she didn't have the answers. She just knew she had to do this for herself. "You know you can't do this. Why are you doing this?"
Clara couldn't help but look at him and let the tears stream down her face. She felt so many things all at once but she knew that she had to speak or all of this would have been for nothing.
"You can't marry her, Harper." She began in a trembling voice, brimming with pain. "You just can't. I know you don't love her." She claimed firmly. Meanwhile Bella looked like she was close to passing out from the shock of the wedding.
He frowned as though he didn't understand what she was saying. "What are you talking about, Clara?"
"I know how you feel about her. I know it's not love." She said with such conviction, that no one could have told her otherwise. "I know that you're doing this to keep yourself distracted and keep yourself from admitting the truth." She had hoped that this moment would come, but she never intended to embarrass him. Regardless, she needed to do it for her own well being and her mental health.
"The truth?" He asked in a soft voice, his eyes fixed on her face. She could see that he wanted to be angry at her but couldn't bring himself to be. "What truth?" He questioned
Clara walked closer to him and spoke the words that she had kept locked up in her heart for months. "I am with your child look." The gasps increased and the attention fell on Bella, who had slumped beside Harper. The latter rushed over to her side, with Bella's parent, also rushing to check up on her.
"You need to stop this wedding, Harper." Clara said with a steely resolve, ignoring the fact that Bella had just passed out.
.
"There's no way you're pregnant, Clara." He said firnly, looking from Bella's unconscious body, to Clara, who stood there completely motionless. "I know you're just trying to sabotage my wedding." He indicated, getting up to his feet and walking close to her.
Harper didn't care at this point about the embarrassment, but one thing he wasn't going to accept, was simply allowing Clara stand in the way of his wedding.
Clara shook her head. "I'm not. I swear to you, I'm not. I'm pregnant and it's yours." In that moment, a group of men stepped into the hall and rushed over to the place, where Bella was being held by he mother.
Staring at his soon to be bride being taken away, Harper was pissed to the core. He turned around and looked at Clara, saying;
"Get out of here!" His voice sounded angrier than she had ever heard it. "Get out!"
Just then, she felt a hand on her arm and turned to see her mother standing there. "Clara, we have to go." She said in a low voice.
Clara looked from Harper to her mother, she hesitated a bit, before eventually following her mother out of the hall. Clara didn't care the looks and murmurs of side talks that her ears perked up from the audience, she was simply glad she had told the truth for her sake.
"Are you telling the truth, Clara?" Her mother asked the moment they went outside, look of disbelief on her face. "Are you really pregnant?" She questioned staring at her daughter's tiny belly.
"I am." Clara said in a trembling voice, while holding her belly. "I took a test last week and it was positive. I'm one hundred percent sure it's his." She affirmed, reminiscing back to the days they had a moment.
"But how do you know it's his?" Her mother questioned. "Did you two…?" She paused looking into Clara's eyes for answers.
"It has to be his." She said, cutting her off. "I know this is wrong." She said in a hoarse whisper. "I know that what I did was wrong. But I never meant to get pregnant. I also didn't want the guilt to live within for a long time." While Clara was still explaining herself, Harper filled with so much rage stepped out and was heading towards Clara.
Clara could see his wolf slowly surfacing, but she knew she needed to keep her cool regardless. "Listen son, I know you have every right to be angry with her right now.."
"Don't call me that! She is a bloody liar and she knows it." Harper stated, staring at the direction of Clara with so much rage in his eyes.
"I am sorry but that's the truth..." Harper wasn't having any of it, he shoved Clara's mother aside and rushed over to Clara, pushing her by the wall and growling at her face. Clara was slowly loosing strength, due to the force that her head made against the wall.
"I will never believe my best friend would ever want to ruin my marriage." Again, Harper indicated, grabbing her by the neck. "I know you did this because of the hate you have against Bella" Clara was slowly loosing sight of everything, including Harper's voice.
"Clara? What happening ?" Harper questioned noticing her eyes slowly closing.
"Get away from my child." Clara's mom shoved him aside and it wasn't till they both watched Clara slumped to the ground, did they realize the seriousness of the situation.
