You And Me

Chapter 2

I hummed a song as I spread the jam and peanut butter. I placed the dirty utensils in the sink and cleaned up my workspace. I grabbed my plate and sat at the counter. I looked down at my sandwiches. This was all I needed, peace, quiet and food.

Before I could sink my teeth into a sandwich, there was a loud boom outside. The ground shook with its force and my heart skipped a beat. It only lasted for a second then there was silence. I grabbed a robe, putting it over my 5'10 frame and walked outside, forgetting my sandwiches.

I shivered as the cold night air chilled my brown skin, causing goosebumps to rise. When I looked around, my other neighbours had come out too. They all looked around confused and children used that time to start playing.

"Everybody please go back to your homes! We just have a problem at the factory! Nothing to worry about!" A police officer shouted.

I found that hard to believe. What kind of problems would a small town like Mazadora have moreover at this time of the night? Something's not right. I stayed outside for a while as people listened and went back home. The officer was helping them and when we made eye contact, he raised and eyebrow at me and I rolled my eyes. Turning on my heel, I entered the house, locking the door behind me.

I went to the counter and leaned my elbows against it. My uneaten sandwiches were right next to me but I had lost my appetite. I got out my phone and checked the time. It was 3:13 a.m. I sighed as I put my phone down. If I didn't sleep by 4:30, I was just going to have to pull an all nighter.

I had shopping for college to do. It was starting soon and I had to be ready. Even though both my parents are doctors, I decided to major in interior design. Macos was majoring in fashion and design and I was sure he would have his own line soon. I would be the supportive best friend who got free clothes.

There was a knock, scratch that, a pounding at my door.

I frowned. Who would be coming here at this hour? One of the neighbours? Maybe it's the cop. Hopefully rolling my eyes at him didn't send him into a pissy mood. He could try to arrest or fine me. Key word try. I tightened my robe and moved to the door. I opened it, ready to make the cop meet his maker when I froze. In front of me wasn't a cop but a guy.

I couldn't see his face because it was covered by his shoulder length black hair, he was supporting his large muscular form on my door frame. His large tattooed arm was holding his stomach where I could see blood soaking his green t shirt. Actually, he was almost fully covered in blood. Some was running down his head, his arms were cut in multiple places.

He raised his head to me with closed eyes and a wince and I gasped. A cut run from his forehead to his left eye, cutting through his eyebrow. It was just a centimeter away from his eye and looked painful. He stumbled forward and I caught him, looping an arm around his waist and tried to lead him to my room.

Please don't pass out.

My room was just down the hall past the first bedroom. I would put him there but I hadn't arranged it yet. I pushed open the door as his body seemed to lose more energy and he put his weight on me. I sharply exhaled. He was heavy.

We were so close to the bed, so very close but he seemed to be losing the will to stay awake with every step. Finally, he collapsed but I managed to push half his body on the bed. Blood soaked my sheets but I didn't care. My heart was racing and I couldn't focus. I helped him lie properly on my bed and I took off his shoes, throwing them somewhere in my room. His breaths became shallow and my heart dropped to my stomach.

I was losing him.

How do you save the life of someone bleeding out? Stop the bleeding right? Right!

I scrambled out of my room to the guest room. I was sure I had a first aid kit in here somewhere. It was fully stacked with everything from a stethoscope to sutures. I checked every box until I finally came across the black bag.

I dragged it to the room, my eyes landing on the large male on my bed. I quickly set the bag next to my bed and removed my night robe. It was only a nuisance. I threw it somewhere before I dropped to my knees a beside him. I opened the bag and got out a pair of scissors, cutting the guy's shirt open.
