Upon learning that Vanessa was about to divorce, as her best friend, Sydney Cooper passionately insulted Norman for ten minutes and said,
"That bastard didn't give you a dime? At the same time, he spends a lot of money on hookers, and he's stingy with his wife?"
"He's not stingy. I have taken a lot of money from him over the past three years. I'm content he didn't ask for it back."
"You can't think like this! You two are a couple, his money is yours and yours is still yours. Plus, he bedded you whenever he wanted to at no charge. Why should he spend a bit of money?"
Vanessa was shocked by her friend's words.
"Could you express yourself in a different way?"
Sydney calmed down a bit.
"I'm sorry, I went out of control for a moment."
Lying on the sofa, Vanessa couldn't take any more and cursed.
"Today I asked for a divorce and he immediately asked me how much money I wanted. He didn't even look at the papers, as if my request was unreasonable. What's his problem?"
"On that matter, why do you want the divorce? You could stick with him and see who dies first."
"Tatiana Bailey is pregnant."
Tatiana Bailey is a well-known young model recently and very close to Norman. Anyone could see that their relationship was special.
Vanessa and Norman had been married for three years, and she was aware of how much her husband hated her. He only went home twice a month, and that was his highest tolerance.
Every time he visited, they made love as a routine. Norman didn't feel anything for her.
He did everything he could to hurt her.
Tatiana was not the first woman close to her husband, but Vanessa didn't take it seriously.
Until a week ago, when full of excitement, she was picking presents for the upcoming anniversary, Tatiana suddenly appeared in front of her with a pregnancy test and proudly announced it.
"I'm pregnant. It's time for you to leave the Carter family."
Seeing the pregnancy test, all of Vanessa's self-deception over the past years had turned into a strong reality check.
Those memories appeared before her, almost as to tell her: "Vanessa, do you think the woman in front of you is shameless and disgusting? Actually, you too. Thanks to that child back then, you were able to marry him."
She cheated Norman in the same way.
Now someone had repeated her trick.
Sydney was upset.
"How can it be the same? He was single back then. Now he's married and Tatiana knows. She's a shameless slut!"
"I don't care. It's almost the same," said Vanessa. "In fact, during these three years I haven't been able to sleep well at nights. But it's fine. Even though he was forced to marry back then, now we're divorced. I don't owe him anything anymore."
Sydney passionately insulted that pair of shameless people once again for half an hour. And then she took Vanessa to the bedroom so she could rest.
"Live with me," she proposed unquestioningly. "My boyfriend isn't here and this house is so big that I'm scared to live alone."
Vanessa gratefully nodded.
"Good night."
The next afternoon, the divorce papers appeared on Norman's desk and Vanessa's signature seemed like it was about to bite him.
Gary Dawson looked at his boss's sad face, stepped forward, and said.
"Mr. Norman, I have confirmed with your home servants. The lady moved out last night. Except for her personal things, she didn't take anything else."
Norman closed the folder with the divorce papers and put it aside.
"She left home and didn't take anything. What is she playing at this time? I want your opinion."
Gary didn't know what to say because he didn't have a wife. What did he know about marital conflicts?
Norman didn't expect any meaningful response from his assistant and said in a low voice.
"You can go."
Gary didn't hesitate for a second and turned around, but before leaving he remembered something.
"Sir. The personalized collar you ordered from Paris has arrived. What now...?"
This was a gift for Mrs. Carter on their third anniversary, but now it's useless.
"Throw it away," Norman ordered indifferently.
"Yes," Gary obeyed.
After Gary left, Norman looked at the papers again. Looking at the signature on them he laughed, but his eyes were cold.Vanessa was a woman who fought tooth and nail to get what she wanted. She begged, pleaded for salvation, and then used her pregnancy as an excuse to force him into marriage.
This situation couldn't possibly be that simple.
It was clear that she had a new goal.
Norman crumpled the papers in his hand and tossed them into the trash.
Vanessa waited at home for several days, but heard nothing from her forthcoming ex-husband. Her messages seemed to disappear into the void, like they usually do.
Day 1: “Did you get the divorce papers? I’ve signed them. Please let me know. We need to go to the civil affairs office to complete the procedures.”
Generous and thoughtful, kind, and polite.
Day 2: “Hello? Have you gotten my messages? Are you dissatisfied with the divorce proceedings?”
Cautious and confident.
Day 3: “Mr. Norman, I know you’re very busy at work, but could you please take some time to divorce me?”
Restrained, yet persistent.
Day 4: “Norman Carter, do you want to keep running in circles? Why are you taking so long? If you don’t want to see me, you should finish everything at once. We’ll never cross paths again. Thanks!”
Emotional and commanding.
Day 5: Norman enabled friend verification. Meaning, if you weren't on a verified list, you couldn't contact him. In other words… he blocked her.
Ha-ha-ha…
Jerk!
Vanessa instantly put down her phone, got up, and headed to the Averno Club.
However, it seemed luck wasn't on her side and instead of seeing Norman, she ran into his next wife.
Tatiana was meeting her friends. As soon as she headed for the door, she saw Vanessa. She sneered and approached in towering heels.
“Don’t you have any self-respect? Still trying to chase after Norman?” she said sarcastically.
Vanessa took a quick glance at her and said nothing.
Seeing her weak appearance, Tatiana gained more confidence.
“Why are you so shameless? I told you I am carrying Norman’s child and you still chase after him. Don’t you realize how horrible it is to be a stalker?"
