Xu Mingjing was sitting on the small sofa in her bedroom reading a book when her phone suddenly rang.
Her best friend, Guo Jiajia, was video calling her. Xu Mingjing didn't hesitate to hang up.
"She must be prying for post-marriage gossip as always," Xu Mingjing thought conspiratorially.
Even though Xu Mingjing refused to pick up the video chat, it didn't stop Guo Jiajia's curiosity. She immediately sent over a bunch of messages.
Xu Mingjing ignored her, lifted her wrist to check her watch. It was ten o'clock in the evening.
Three months into their marriage, Liang Jingze would return home promptly at eleven-ten every night, come rain or shine.
To avoid direct contact with Liang Jingze, Xu Mingjing began her usual routine of taking a bath and freshening up.
By the time Liang Jingze came home, she would be asleep already. And just like that, another day would pass.
But something was different today. Xu Mingjing was lying in bed, tossing and turning for nearly half an hour. The time Liang Jingze was supposed to be home was approaching, but she was still wide awake.
Xu Mingjing picked up her phone and opened WeChat. She had read the articles from her favorite public accounts more than a dozen times during the day and there was really nothing left to read.
In the end, out of extreme boredom, she couldn't help but look at the messages sent to her by Guo Jiajia.
She recalled that just a few days after she had married Liang Jingze, Guo Jiajia had bluntly asked her about Liang Jingze's prowess in bed.
Xu Mingjing had innocently answered, "We haven't done anything yet..."
As it turns out, these three months, Guo Jiajia had turned into a determined advocate for her and Liang Jingze's consummation. Guo Jiajia would ask her every night in various ways on WeChat, centered around one idea: "Are you going to consummate your marriage with Liang Jingze tonight?"
Xu Mingjing was filled with regret.
Guo Jiajia, as usual, was persuading her over WeChat to forget about that person and be peaceful as Mrs. Liang's young lady.
Tonight, Guo Jiajia even shared a video link with her.
Compelled by something she couldn't voice, Xu Mingjing clicked on the link. It was a very renowned adult film. The visuals flushed Xu Mingjing's face and made her ears red; she ended up watching it for a little while...
A black Maybach was parked in front of the villa. Its bright headlights lit up the yard. Liang Jingze settled his briefcase, loosened his tie and exhaled, then stepped out with long, relaxed strides into the villa.
The housekeeper, Mrs. Li, waiting in the living room, took the suit Liang Jingze handed over and respectfully said, "Sir, you're back..." She glanced towards the second floor and added, "The young lady has gone to bed."
Liang Jingze had drunk slightly more than usual this night, the alcohol not quite dispersed. He nodded symbolically before heading upstairs.
Only a single wall lamp was lit in the spacious bedroom - left on by Xu Mingjing for him. Just like always, she was curled up on her side, facing away from him, sleeping on the far left side of the bed.
After a quick cleanup, Liang Jingze returned to the bedroom. Moving silently, he gently lifted the corner of the blanket, careful not to disturb the sleeping person.
Once he was lying down, Liang Jingze heard an odd sound. He sat up, and after a while identified the sound as coming from Xu Mingjing's cell phone.
He turned his gaze to the left side of the bed, where a delicate young girl's face was gently illuminated in repose. Even asleep, she was as poised as ever.
Liang Jingze found the phone under her arm, with a video still playing on the screen. He gently picked it up; the scenes playing on the screen were paired with quiet moaning. Liang Jingze was taken aback and almost dropped the phone onto the bed.
"It's surprising she was watching this sort of movie before sleep..." Liang Jingze glanced at the sleeping woman again; a complex emotion flickering in his deep, attractive eyes.
His gaze returned to the phone screen, and he rarely watched such movies himself. After watching for a while, he suddenly remembered a conversation from earlier that day at the club when Wang Hanming asked him, "Jingze, you didn't wait for Ruolin, but ended up marrying the Xu family's daughter. How is it? Is she fresh and juicy enough?"
Liang Jingze dismissed Wang Hanming's drunken ramblings and ignored him.
However, at this moment those words were resurfacing in his mind.
Perhaps it was the allure of the suggestive video, or the influence of alcohol. Liang Jingze removed his pajamas and spooned her from behind.
