In 2356 BC, the Void Kingdom. City S.
Chilly night.
A group of meticulously dressed people cheerfully enter a hotel. Among them, there's a slim short-haired woman who seems efficient and sharp. Her black attire accentuates her quiet and mysterious aura, making her stand out among the crowd.
A man next to her invites her enthusiastically.
"Today's successful negotiation is largely due to Miss Lin's precise and rigorous translation. Director Wang is hosting a banquet in the main hall tonight to celebrate. You must honor us with your presence!"
The woman in black smiles subtly, her voice as soft and pleasant as a spring breeze caressing a field, in stark contrast to her domineering demeanor at the negotiation table.
"I have to catch a plane early tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to attend."
The man insists, but after some polite chit-chat, the woman in black finally manages to excuse herself.
After saying goodbye to the group, she takes the elevator alone to the 53rd floor.
Only Lin Qiuye is in the elevator, resting with her eyes closed against the wall.
Her delicate face beneath the makeup looks a bit weary. She bends over to rub her sore feet.
She relaxes her whole body, limps to her room door, and as soon as she opens the door, a strong force pushes her from behind. Before she could scream, someone covers her mouth, and she falls into muscular arms. The door behind her closes immediately.
She struggles, kicking and trying to shout, but he has her mouth covered tightly. She can't make a sound.
Suddenly, a familiar smell fills the darkness, cold and tense. Her already anxious heart starts to pound violently. With an unknown sense of strength, she pushes the person off her and blindly switches on the room light.
Under the dazzling light, a familiar yet proud face comes into view.
She could only feel her head buzzing explosively, and she was stunned, unable to express any words. Her eyes, clear as water, stared at the man in front of her, disbelief written over her face.
The person in front of her felt so real yet so surreal. She felt as though she was sinking into a dream, all she could do was lean against the wall, clutching her chest, drawing deep breaths, unable to do anything else.
In contrast, the man appeared rather composed. His sharp black eyes were fixed on her, not missing any hint of her emotions. There was surprise, panic, unease, and an unfamiliar distance that left him annoyed in those clear eyes. Yet, there was no joy to be found.
Damn it!
Slowly, the man's handsome face darkened. He clutched his injured arm and cursed quietly under his breath, then, worn out, he threw himself onto a couch, breaking the stifling silence.
"What, you’ve forgotten me after only a year? Despite us having lived together for four years, right?"
He was injured, and people were relentlessly pursuing him. Seeing a room at the end of the corridor about to be opened, he nimbly hid in it out of desperation, only to realize, to his surprise, he had ducked into a familiar place.
The moment he had held her, he knew it was her. He could never forget this delicate body that he possessed for four years and had yearned for over the past year.
A satisfied smile tugged the corner of his mouth if this was destiny, then he was more than willing to accept this sudden reunion.
His bleeding arm brought Lin Qiuye back from her shock. Ignoring his sarcasm and his baffling smile, she composed herself, lowered her head, and quickly moved toward him. According to her estimation, he must have been cut by a knife.
"Are you hurt?"
After being with him for four years, she had long gotten used to his occasional injuries.
However, he suddenly stood up and pulled her into his arms. He cracked a nonchalant smile, his voice filled with unaffected laughter.
"Just a minor injury. It won't kill me!"
The familiar, domineering aroma blew softly into her ear. Leaning on his broad and sturdy chest, Lin Qiuye felt as if every pore of her body was opened, every inch of her skin seemed to catch fire.
During the entire process of bandaging, she kept her head down, refusing to look at him, not uttering a single word.
Her silence and aloofness drove the man crazy, as his gloomy eyes gradually filled with anger. He stared at the emotionless little woman who was bandaging him and gritted his teeth, saying,
"Lin Qiuye, you are indeed heartless! Upon meeting again, you have no reaction to me?"
As she was tying the bandage, her delicate hand trembled. Reaction? What sort of reaction could she have?
Lin Qiuye chuckled bitterly in her heart. A year ago, when their contract ended, she had secretly sworn to forget this dangerous man, to forget the life that she had lived for four years.
Because she deeply understood, his world and hers were completely different.
His name is Zhuang Shili, the CEO of the largest shipping company in the Jia-Asia region, "Lan Shi United Shipping". He is also the mysterious and unpredictable boss of the underworld organization "Dragon Gate", the ruler of the entire Jia-Asia underworld.
No matter which identity, they are all so prominent and noble, all so high above, and all have a unreachable distance from the ordinary her.
So she couldn't wait to escape and wanted to live a quiet life of her own.
She successfully applied to a well-known translation company and became the chief translator of the company through her own efforts.
She underwent a makeover, changed her address, and resolved to break away from her past.
She thought they would part ways and never see each other again in this life.
But she didn't expect to meet him again in a foreign country, in a stranger’s city. Moreover, they met in such a complicated manner. She was somewhat dazed, even resigned. Could this be fate?
No! No! A voice at the bottom of her heart crisply pulled back her sanity. She wanted to start living her life again, live a normal bright life!
She wants to fall in love like a normal girl, get married, have children, not to guard an unreachable man all her life, living a life away from public view.
What she owed him, she had already paid off with her body during those four years.
Skillfully tied the bandage into a beautiful bow, she stood up, turned her back to him and said indifferently,
"It was just a game and a contract to begin with, what do you expect my reaction to be?"
