"Is this hard enough for you?"
The sound of a man's ragged gasps interspersed with the sound of creaking emanated from that room. Whispered dirty talk between the lovers could be heard as well.
Margaret Wood stood by the door outside that dressing room. She was as pale as a sheet and felt ridiculous in her wedding dress.
Yes, she was the bride tonight. Phillip, the man inside, was her groom.
Today was their big day, and she had merely come to his dressing room to see if he was ready. She did not expect to encounter a shocking thing like this.
Click. The door of the dressing room opened.
Margaret clenched her fists tightly and gritted her teeth. She glared daggers at the dishevelled man who walked out of the room.
"Margaret! What are you doing here?" asked Philip in a panic.
"I bet you didn't expect me to be here, did you?" Margaret sneered, "Neither did I ever expect that you would do such a disgusting thing and betray me like this on our wedding day!"
The woman inside also stepped out. She was hastily tugging her skirt down which had been hiked up above her waist. The straps of her top were in disarray, revealing a good amount of her smooth and supple skin.
There was a trail of bright red marks along her neck... Anyone would be able to hazard a guess as to what had caused those marks.
When she saw Margaret, the woman looked startled. However, she quickly calmed down and snuggled against Philip. She said, "Margaret, you've seen it for yourself. Philip and I are a couple, and we've been seeing each other for over a year now. He's going to leave you for me!"
"Margaret, please give me a chance to explain." Philip hurriedly pushed Amy Baker aside. He grabbed Margaret's arm and begged her to listen to him.
"Don't touch me!" Margaret stepped back and shrugged off his hand in disgust.
Her loud reproach could be heard from outside. A couple of their relatives ran in. "What's the matter?" they asked.
However, once they saw Philip and Amy in their current state, everyone instantly understood the situation. Philip's family was outraged. His father strode forward and slapped him right in front of Margaret.
However, Margaret seemed indifferent and wholly unbothered when she saw Philip being slapped. She ran off before any of the Miller Family had the chance to speak.
All the wedding guests were gathered in the hall. There were no less than 200 guests in attendance.
This was the wedding of the mayor's youngest daughter and the only son of the principal of T University. Hence, many of the people from the upper echelons of society were in attendance.
Margaret's sister-in-law was acting as her wedding planner. When she saw the bride running out alone, she rushed to ask, "Margaret, what's going on?"
Margaret ignored her and walked directly onto the stage. She picked up the microphone and declared to all the guests present, "Today is my wedding day, but I'm not satisfied with my groom. I've decided that I'm not going to marry him. I'm going to find someone else to take his place. Is there anyone here who is willing to marry me?"
"Huh? What on earth is going on?"
"Why is she changing her groom?"
"This must be a joke right?!"
In an instant, there was an uproar. Everyone was busy discussing this new development.
Mr. Mason Wood and his wife, Mrs. Wood were probably the most astonished people in the room. Someone came up to whisper in their ear, informing them of the matter that had just happened in the dressing room.
"I am willing to marry you." The clear voice of a man could be heard calling out.
Margaret watched as the man slowly walked onto the stage with a wicked smile on his handsome face. His good looks made it impossible for anyone to look away from him. He was dressed in a tailored, black suit which perfectly showed off his well-built figure.
She was surprised to see him.
Margaret smiled wryly. Maxiland was a small place so their local celebrities were known to everyone who lived there.
Mr. Sheldon Collins was famous for his debauchery and unconventional lifestyle. He was said to be a regular at the Glory Club, the city's largest entertainment venue.
"Miss Wood, are you satisfied with me?" asked Sheldon Collins meaningfully.
Margaret walked slowly towards him. Her grim features began to relax. She put her hand in his.
Philip rushed into the hall despite his family's attempts to stop him, only to see Margaret and Sheldon going ahead with the wedding ceremony.
Amy chased after him. When she was next to him, she said, "Philip, it's over. You know what Margaret's character is like. There's no way that she would be able to forgive you for this betrayal."
"Why did you do this, Amy? You have ruined me!" shouted Philip.
Amy's eyes brimmed with tears. She bit her lower lip as she looked towards the stage. Her eyes met Sheldon's gaze.
