Café
Zhu Chenxi sat in her chair, her face adorned with an exquisitely genuine smile. Her beautiful eyes, shimmering like stars, blinked at the man sitting opposite her.
The man lifted his coffee cup, drinking nervously, sip by sip. His facial expression suggested he wanted to say something but was hesitating.
Zhu Chenxi was in no rush. She just continued looking at him with her starry eyes, waiting patiently for him to speak.
"Chenxi, we..."
The ringing of Zhu Chenxi's mobile phone interrupted him. It indicated a new message had arrived.
"I need to check this message first," Zhu Chenxi said, giving an enchantingly beautiful smile that was reminiscent of the early morning sun illuminating a clear sky.
Wu Donglin was somewhat mesmerized by her smile.
Zhu Chenxi took out her phone and opened the message.
There, before her eyes, was a picture. She looked at it in silence, taking it all in, her attention as focused as if she were studying a world-class painting.
And as she reviewed the image, the corners of her mouth curled upward in a beautiful smile, lighting up like fireworks.
She murmured to herself, "So, the D we usually see is just a push-up bra. Honestly, this looks more like a B cup. Yeah, B."
"Pardon? What did you say, Chenxi?" Wu Donglin asked, looking at her with a puzzled expression.
Zhu Chenxi tossed her phone casually onto the table, still wearing a picture-perfect smile. She replied in an elegant manner, "Oh, nothing important. Now, you may continue."
"We..."
"The morning sun is golden and the waves are gently swaying.
The sailing horn is blowing, it's time to quickly hoist the sail.
Don't rush like this, let me lie down for a little bit more..."
The ringtone of the mobile phone interrupted Wu Donglin's words.
Zhu Chenxi gave him a slightly apologetic smile, then shrugged her shoulders, "Sorry, I need to take this call. It might be urgent."
Wu Donglin nodded, holding his cup of coffee and took another sip.
"Hello," Zhu Chenxi answered the phone, her voice was soft and melodious, as lovely as the sound of spring water trickling, or like the melodious call of a bird.
"Did you receive the photos?" A voice filled with provocation and a hint of smugness came from the other side.
"Mm, I've seen them," Zhu Chenxi replied, her tone ice cold.
"Now that you've seen them, you better leave Donglin! We are together now!" The voice from the phone gave an almost commanding tone," The young master of the Du family is not something your lowly pedigree deserves!"
"Oh," Zhu Chenxi responded with an indifferent tone, and then added, "You, at best, look like a B-grade."
Are you so proud that you're together now? And you even sent a photo to showoff in front of me, why didn't you live broadcast when you were doing it, so the audience could watch!
"Zhu Chenxi, are you saying you are A-grade?!" The sharp voice from the phone came through, filled with teeth-gritting fury.
Zhu Chenxi lightly smiled, still as casual and elegant as ever, "Good luck to you!"
After finishing her sentence, she hung up the phone, looking up at the man sitting opposite her.
Her smile, radiating a beauty that surpassed even that of an air hostess, never faded from her face. It was pure, charming, and delicate, akin to a lotus blooming resplendent yet retaining an inkling of innocence from the mud.
"Wenxi, let's... break up." Wu Donglin stared at her, grappling with his decision before uttering the words, then anxiously awaited Zhu Wenxi's response.
"Okay." Zhu Wenxi responded indifferently, and then said no more.
She didn’t cry, kick up a fuss, nor did she ask for reasons. She acted as if nothing happened, hardly looking like a woman dumped by her boyfriend.
"Aren't you... going to ask why?" Wu Donglin was a bit taken aback, he questioned her seemingly perplexed expression.
Zhu Wenxi curved her lips, "Would it change your decision if I asked?"
Wu Donglin shook his head, "No."
Zhu Wenxi shrugged nonchalantly, "Then why ask? Isn’t it a waste of my words? I wish you good luck in swimming the river."
Zhu Wenxi stood up, didn't spare him another glance and started to walk away.
From behind, Wu Donglin's voice echoed with regret, "Wenxi, how wonderful it would be if you were not an illegitimate child but the daughter of the Pan family!"
Like hell!
Zhu Wenxi ignored him and continued her stride.
"Bastard! Playboy! I hope you won’t be able to get it up!" Zhu Wenxi muttered softly, spotting a little stone by her foot, she raised her foot, imbuing it with a hint of pent-up resentment and kicked it, as if the pebble represented the scum of a man.
"Whoosh!"
"Uh!"
Zhu Chenxi froze, embarrassment visible on her face, her clear, spring-like eyes unblinkingly staring ahead.
She kicked a stone and...hit someone.
Well, not exactly hitting the person, at least, not their face. But the stone did strike his...foot. The man stood by the car door, his right hand still on the handle, seemingly about to get in. His left foot rested on the...unidentified flying object - a small stone that she kicked.
His brows were slightly furrowed, his hawk-like eyes turning to look at the culprit. Zhu Chenxi instinctively shivered a little. She felt a bit spineless.
He was like a lion ready to pounce - every inch of him radiating a faint hint of danger. His eyes seemed able to penetrate everything, and it felt like he was peering right through her.
The foot, the one resting on the stone, slowly rolled over it. Zhu Chenxi inexplicably drew her neck in, as though his action had been directed towards her neck in some way.
This man...was too dangerous!
That was the only thought racing through Zhu Chenxi's mind at this moment.
"Come over!" The man opposite her spoke just as she was about to say something. His voice was sonorous and loud, filled with an inherent dignity that was as commanding as issuing a decree, leaving no room for resistance.
Zhu Chenxi moved up to him as if drawn in by a magnet, then stopped a meter away from him.
He was tall. Very tall.
She had to look up at him.
Zhu Chenxi was not short, standing at 169cm, which is quite outstanding.
But standing in front of him, she was a head shorter.
She was like a primary school student who had made a mistake, standing obediently in front of him, accepting a parental reprimand.
The man had an icy aura about him, as if shrouded in frost.
“I'm ... sorry.” Zhu Chenxi apologized sincerely, looking up at him.
But all she saw was a frosty, expressionless face.
He looked down at her, sizing her up, as if she were small prey. His lips, thin as a knife, were pursed tightly, and his slightly dark cheeks made him appear even colder and more solemn. It made Zhu Chenxi feel as if she were facing the king of hell.
Is it necessary to make such a hellish face just because I kicked a small stone and didn't even hit him?
Zhu Chenxi thought darkly.
“Um, did the stone hit you? If it did, I could...”
“How will you make up for it?” He interrupted Zhu Chenxi before she could finish.
His sharp gaze, like that of an eagle, was locked onto Zhu Chenxi, as if attempting to bore holes into her face.
His voice's pitch may be cold and hard, yet it possesses a certain charming allure.
"Eh?" was the surprised response from Zhu Chenxi, immediately followed by a sweet smile. As she smiled, two cute little dimples appeared on her cheek. "I'll accompany you to the hospital for a check-up."
His deep-set eyes fixed a steady gaze at her. Slight upward curves appeared at the corners of his thin, delicate lips, forming a rather intriguing and enigmatic smile. However, he remained silent, just watching her.
That look gave Zhu Chenxi a weird, hair-raising sensation.
It was a feeling even more unsettling than when she had inadvertently seen the intimate picture of Zhu Shuyong and Wu Donglin.
"The early morning sun is golden and splendid,
The waves sway gently, the call to sail echoes,
Raise the sails quickly now, stop your hurry let me rest a while..."
Her mobile phone rang, disrupting the strange aura of the moment.
The man's brows furrowed slightly, a touch of mystery and peculiarity glinted from within his gaze as he watched Zhu Chenxi.
Zhu Chenxi reached into the pocket of her jeans to retrieve her mobile phone. She answered the call, "Hello?"
"Little darling~" A sugary sweet voice rang from the phone, causing goosebumps to form on her skin. It was a man's voice, surprisingly.
