"Hey, stop pretending to be dead!"
Su Qiao is woken up by a kick. Wrinkling her pretty eyebrows, she wondered who the fearless person that dared to kick her was. Were they not aware that messing with her only led to a dead end?
She tries to prop herself up, but found that her body was sore and weak. In her semi-conscious state, her mind was filled with a barrage of random, confusing thoughts, leading her to question if she was going insane.
"Get me a bucket of water to splash her awake! How dare she try to play tricks in front of my sister Lan, I think she's tired of living!" A domineering and arrogant female voice reached her ears, and after she finished speaking, she harshly stepped on Su Qiao's hand.
Sharp pain brought Su Qiao back into clarity.
Opening her eyes, the surrounding environment threw her off.
Wasn't she ambushed and fell in the underground garage? How did she suddenly end up in a different place? She still remembers the pain of the special bullet piercing her chest, a weapon she created that could paralyze someone’s nervous system, rendering them immobile. When the chemical ingredients inside exploded, it could corrode a person until not even their bones remained. She remembered being quite pleased with herself for creating it.
Because of the terribleness of this weapon, Su Qiao never publicized it. Only a few confidantes knew about its existence. But what she never expected was that she would die under this fatal weapon that she had developed herself.
While Su Qiao was being self-deprecating, a bucket of cold water poured on her.
Despite feeling unwell, her instinct to benefit and avoid harm was still present. She swiftly rolled over to avoid the bucket of water. To the surprise of everyone in the room, she quickly stood up and tightly grabbed the throat of the person who was yelling at her just now.
"Let... let go..." The robust woman being choked didn't expect Su Qiao to burst out suddenly. She couldn't break free from the grip of the seemingly gentle Su Qiao, no matter how strong she was.
Su Qiao smirked, and the strength in her hand increased. "Was it you who kicked me just now?"
"Cough, cough, cough..." The woman coughed non-stop, her face red due to lack of oxygen.
Seeing this scene, everyone else in the room was startled, taking some time to react.
Su Qiao saw the woman's eyes roll back, and only then did she loosen her grip, pushing her off like a piece of garbage. "Don't mess with me again! Otherwise, I cannot guarantee that I will show mercy next time!"
The tall and sturdy woman was covering her neck, looking at Su Qiao with a face full of terror as if she was seeing a monster.
She couldn't understand how the girl whom she had bullied to the extent that she didn't dare retaliate, had suddenly become so strong. Just now, she thought that she was going to be strangled to death by her!
"Lan, are you okay..." The rest of the group, seemingly struck by the scene they had just witnessed, walked around Su Qiao to support their leader.
Su Qiao really did not take this group seriously. After a cold glance at them, she leaned against a wall and began to observe her surroundings.
This was a room filled with clutter, dimly lit. The window was wide open, but barred with steel and unmovable. The only exit was an iron door in front that was rusty and decrepit, with most of its paint peeled off, an environment that easily conjured images of a prison meant for criminals.
Just as Su Qiao was daringly speculating, a prison guard wearing a uniform walked over with a stern expression, "What are you all gathered here for, have you completed the tasks you were assigned?"
Su Qiao raised an eyebrow, her speculation becoming more accurate. It seems she really was locked up in a prison. However, looking at the relatively young age of the people in the room, it was probably some kind of juvenile detention facility.
"What are you waiting for, get to work quickly!" the prison guard snapped, losing patience when he saw their unresponsiveness.
The robust woman, while somewhat fearful of the guard, was considering leading the group away gracefully, but upon accidentally meeting Su Qiao's seemingly calm eyes, she instantly buckled and could not muster the courage to move forward, "You...you go first..."
Seeing that she was reasonable, Su Qiao dusted off the dirt on her sleeves and confidently walked to the front.
In the yard outside, a large group of people had already gathered. They huddled in small clusters, and upon seeing Su Qiao and her group coming out, they all had expressions of disbelief. Especially at the sight of Lan, the local ringleader, following behind Su Qiao who seems to be nonchalant, almost dropping their jaws in shock.
"What a weird atmosphere... I must be seeing things…," one of them said.
"Why do I feel that Su Qiao seems different...," another wondered.
Feeling agitated by their stares, Lan yelled, "What are you looking at!"
Sure enough, after her shout, several of the more timid ones turned their heads away, not daring to look in that direction anymore, squatting down to pull at the grass in silence.
Su Qiao had no interest in doing the menial tasks, so she found a corner to nap. After all, her body was still hurting, she needed to recuperate.
Lan Jie and the others glanced at her and wisely kept their distance, not disturbing her.
"Hey, what's going on? Why are they so afraid of you... Did you get scolded by the prison guards?" A short-haired girl tugged Su Qiao's sleeve and whispered while Qiao napping.
Su Qiao opened her eyes and glanced blankly at her, a name flashing in her mind. But in her memory, she didn't know this person at all!
Thinking of this, Su Qiao suddenly sat up straight and hoarsely asked, "Can I borrow your mirror?"
The short-haired girl responded and handed her a square makeup mirror.
Looking at the stranger's face in the mirror, Su Qiao couldn’t help but swear under her breath.
Goddammit!
That young, delicate, blonde girl was not her!
She should have realized sooner. Hit by an invisible killer weapon, how could she possibly survive?
It took Su Qiao two hours to gradually digest the fact that she had been reborn in another person's body. After listening to Han Youyou
the short-haired girl
narrate her previous "glorious" deeds, she began to understand her situation.
The owner of this body was also named Su Qiao, the illegitimate daughter of the Su family, one of the four richest families in the city. She was always in the shadow of the legitimate daughter, Su Lei. She faced constant snubs and bullying. Apart from her pretty face, there was nothing else worth mentioning. If she had been obedient, she could have married off to a rich family and live a worry-free life. Unfortunately, she fell for Su Lei's fiancé, Jiang Shaozhuo, and attempted to take her place. She was caught drugging Jiang, so, to appease the Jiang family's anger, the Su family abandoned her and sent her to a juvenile detention center.
This foolish girl, full of ambitions but without the ability to achieve them, was a perfect illustration of biting off more than one can chew.
However, this body she now occupied was indeed very young, not even eighteen. This might be the only pleasant surprise Su Qiao had since her rebirth! Clear skin, youthful glow, and a pleasant surplus of collagen – there was a small solace in that.
