"Ji Ming, are you fucking brain-dead? Even such a basic mistake you commit."
Suddenly, a yell as grating as the screech of brakes echoed in the office.
The entire department's staff was given a good scare.
Ji Ming looked up at the slightly overweight, somewhat balding supervisor in front of him, holding back his annoyance, he asked, "Manager Feng, what mistake did I make?"
"See for yourself." Manager Feng said, forcefully slamming the file he held in his hand onto the desk, causing a loud thud.
Ji Ming recognized it as the project proposal he submitted the day before.
He picked it up and opened it to see a minor typo that had been circled.
Damn, was it really necessary to cause such a fuss over a single miswritten character?
This was clearly a personal vendetta.
It seemed that this guy wouldn't be satisfied until he had driven him out.
It turns out, five days ago Ji Ming unintentionally foiled Manager Feng's attempt to take advantage of the secretary, Lin Siying, and since then, he had been targeting him.
In the past, Ji Ming would have endured the insults to keep his job and admitted his mistakes.
But he had just suffered a breakup yesterday and his mood was poor. He wasn't going to bottle up his resentment.
He stood up, unabashedly meeting Feng's gaze, "Manager Feng, I only made a single typo. Was it necessary for you to swear so harshly?"
Seeing Ji Ming actually dare to talk back to Manager Feng, the other colleagues sighed inwardly, knowing that Ji Ming was going to be in deep trouble. Manager Feng was notoriously petty, and anyone who dared to talk back to him would never expect a good outcome.
As expected, and just as everyone had imagined, Director Feng felt greatly insulted. He pointed at Ji Ming's nose, and bellowed, "You bastard, do you think this is a small matter? One rat dropping will spoil a pot of soup; one typo can likewise destroy a perfect plan."
Ji Ming sneered, "You bald fool, stop pretending to be righteous. Isn't it just because I ruined your despicable attempt at taking advantage of Si Ying, that you constantly find fault with me?"
Director Feng didn’t expect Ji Ming to expose his scandal in public, shaking with anger he said, "You bastard Ji Ming, you're truly lawless. It's bad enough you don’t correct your mistakes and defy your superiors, but now you even dare to slander me. Our company does not need trash like you. You're fired, pack your stuff and get lost."
Ji Ming replied coldly, "If I must go, then I will. I didn't want this job anyway. However, 'Pig Head' Feng, your happiness will not last long. Soon I will come back. The day I return will be the day when I step on you."
Director Feng, outrageously laughing in response, full of ridicule and mockery said, "You are a piece of garbage, all talk and no action. With your pathetic self, even after ten lifetimes, you won’t be able to overtake me."
The other colleagues secretly sighed. They thought Ji Ming was simply trying to win the argument.
They all knew that Director Feng had a strong backing. His brother-in-law was not only the dean of Da Ren Hospital but was also the personal doctor of the chairman's beloved daughter. Hence, they believed Ji Ming could never touch him.
Without further ado, Ji Ming simply packed up his belongings, and then left Xing Feng Food Company.
At this moment, it was raining heavily outside.
Ji Ming had no umbrella, but he didn't care. He walked boldly in the rain.
Soon, he was completely soaked, just like a drowned rat.
"Depressed, not only did I lose love, but now I also lost my job. I'm not giving up though."
Ji Ming sighed while walking.
When he reached the middle of the road, Ji Ming suddenly stopped and shouted towards the sky, "I must succeed."
In response to him, several thunderclaps roared, as if the heavens were laughing at his daydream.
Actually, Ji Ming knew very well that for an ordinary person like him, it was extremely difficult to stand out.
Suddenly, his cellphone started to ring.
He stopped in his tracks, whipped out his phone to look, and it was a call from Qianxue, the landlord's daughter.
His landlord big sis had recently gone on a trip, and so it fell to him to look after Qianxue.
"Qianxue, what's up?"
"Brother, I'll be staying the night at a classmate's house, you'll have to sort out dinner for yourself tonight."
"Alright."
Just as he ended the call, a huge thunderbolt suddenly crashed down, striking his phone directly.
Ji Ming was greatly startled, quickly loosening his grip and letting the phone fall to the ground.
"Darn it, when it rains, it pours." Ji Ming felt a wave of gloom.
After the thunderbolt, he picked up his phone again.
"Huh, the phone's actually fine despite being hit by such a massive bolt of lightning, Huawei's quality is truly impressive."
Seeing that his phone was intact, Ji Ming felt an indescribable sense of shock.
Suddenly, he noticed a game icon on his phone screen that he had never seen before... Fairy Lottery Machine.
He was a little puzzled as he didn't remember ever downloading this game.
He couldn't help but click on it.
Quickly, a young girl appeared on the phone screen.
The girl was about eighteen years old, wearing a light and elegant sky-blue ancient-style long dress. Her skin was delicate, and her body was tall and voluptuous, extremely beautiful, and she emitted an ethereal aura like a fairy who doesn't partake in mortal affairs.
The most attractive was her eyes; they seemed affectionate yet cold, passionate as fire, serene as ice, incredibly intriguing.
Ji Ming marveled, "I didn't expect there to be such a beautiful girl in the world, with such fascinating eyes. I wonder if she's real, or just a system development?"
"Distinguished guest, would you like to possess the wealth of enemy countries? Want to acquire astonishing power? Want to sleep with enchanting fairies? Then please play our newly released fairy lottery game, as long as you recharge one hundred merits, you can play as you wish." The girl suddenly began to speak.
Her voice was like a heavenly melody, incredibly pleasing to the ear.
Ji Ming murmured, "What is this merit?"
"Merit is a very magical energy substance. You can earn one merit for doing a small good deed, ten merits for a large good deed, one hundred merits for saving a life, one thousand merits for exterminating evil and exorcising demons, and one million merits for saving the world." The girl answered patiently.
Ji Ming was somewhat speechless, "This feels like a prank game. There's no such thing as a fairy world in reality, and who has so many merits to play with."
"No merits? Don't worry, considering you're our first customer, we will offer you ten free lottery draws."
Ji Ming cheerfully replied, "That's more like it. However, it's not convenient to play here. I'll have a good game when I go home."
He stowed away his phone and then took the bus home.
Once he got home, he dried his face and head with a towel and changed into clean clothes.
Next, he sat down on the couch and opened the fairy lottery machine.
This fairy lottery machine was no different from the regular ones. A large black and white wheel displayed on it were sixteen lottery icons. Half of them were marked with the words "Thanks for your patronage" while the remaining eight were, respectively, Invisibility Technique, Qi-training Pill, Elixir of Immortality, Longevity Water, Soul of Godly Healer, Soul of Gambling God, Eye of Insight, and Nine peerless Fairies.
"What are these 'Nine peerless Fairies'?" Ji Ming asked curiously.
"The 'Nine peerless Fairies', as the name suggests, are the nine most beautiful and charming fairies in the fairy realm," the fairy customer service agent's voice rang out.
"So, if I get it, nine fairies will descend from the sky to serve me?" teased Ji Ming.
He didn't really believe in the existence of fairies since he took this all as just a game.
"You get one at random each time you win."
"I see," Ji Ming hesitated no more and started clicking the lottery machine.
Soon, a red light dot began to spin rapidly.
It spun quickly for thirty seconds, then began to move slowly, one step at a time.
In the end, it stopped at a "Thanks for your patronage."
Ji Ming lamented with a bitter face, "I've never won a prize in real life. I can't believe that I don't even have that luck in a game. What a disappointing life."
