In the evening, Golden Age Bar
"Cheers!"
In a room on the second floor of the bar, the sounds of cheers and clinking glasses could be heard.
Gu Mingyan, along with everyone else, was cheering. Youthful radiance shining brightly on her face, she appeared incredibly relaxed.
She was wearing a plaid skirt and a white shirt, her slender figure standing out in the crowd of girls. After two glasses of wine, her small face turned slightly rosy, as if she were drunk. The innocent and alluring look attracted the attention of many boys.
"Mingyan, your phone," said the girl next to Gu Mingyan. She handed Gu Mingyan her cell phone.
Gu Mingyan took the phone from her, glanced at it, and rushed outside to answer the call. "Hello, Butler Li? What's up?"
"The young master is back. Where are you, Miss? Please hurry home."
Hearing these words from the butler, Gu Mingyan's pupils instantly contracted, as if the man was standing right in front of her. Unconsciously, her body shivered, "Alright, I...I understand."
Gu Mingyan hurried back to the room to gather her belongings at top speed.
Her classmates weren't pleased to see her leaving so soon, especially since she had only been there for less than an hour.
"Mingyan, doesn't your home only have one butler? Just tell him it's okay and you don't need to leave this early, do you? Moreover, it's a graduation party! It'll be disrespectful if you leave now, won't it?"
"I'm sorry, something urgent came up." Gu Mingyan apologized with a smile while moving towards the exit, "Next time when I'm free, I'll treat everyone to dinner. I really am sorry for leaving early this time."
As soon as she finished speaking, she shouldered her bag and darted out, in a clear hurry.
Compared to the importance of face, Gu Mingyan was more afraid of the man who was returning home. The butler had informed her on the phone that the man's car had already reached the city center. She had to get home before him, or else she would get a serious scolding.
As Gu Mingyan had just hailed a taxi, Mother Nature decided to be a bit unkind and poured a driving rain down upon her.
The villa covered a ten-mile radius and was all part of the Qi family territory. Apart from their own vehicles, no other cars were allowed. As such, upon reaching the place, Gu Mingyan had no choice but to brace herself, take her bag, put it over her head and dash into the storm.
By the time she reached the front gate, her clothes were soaked through, her beautiful figure fully on display, and her overall appearance rather pitiful.
The butler hurried over with an umbrella and couldn't help but feel a bit sorry when he saw the shivering Gu Mingyan.
Just as he was about to say something, Gu Mingyan shot him a look. Understanding the temperament of the person inside the house, the butler quickly held the umbrella over her head.
When Gu Mingyan entered the house, she intentionally wrung the water from her clothes, fearing that stains might dirty the living room floor.
In the spacious and bright living room, there sat a man on a genuine leather couch. He was dressed only in a black shirt, his long legs casually crossed, and showing an imposing aura just from his posture, as if he was the absolute master of the place.
The man held a silver pistol in his hand, small and delicate yet extremely lethal. As he wiped it with a clean white cloth, he appeared indifferent to everything else around him except for the gun.
Gu Mingyan looked up at him.
The moment she saw the man, she bit her lip tight, feeling a chill go through her body. She didn't know whether it was the cold from her wet clothes or the man that scared her. She pushed the drenched hair from her forehead and walked over nervously.
"...Young Master, welcome back." Ever since she turned ten, she had stopped calling this man by that name. Instead, she called him 'young master' along with the rest of the house staff. But, he never gave any response.
The man did not pay her any attention and continued to polish the silver pistol in his hands.
