“Don’t leave Laurent… it’s midnight. Just go tomorrow,” a girl who was wearing a princess -like nightgown muttered as she grabbed the strong arm of a man. The man didn’t turn, he was looking out of the window of the room where they were staying.
“I need to leave now. I’ll come tomorrow to see you. Until then take care and don’t leave this room. You already know what’s happening outside of the castle.”
“Take care. I love you.” His voice was filled with seriousness as he said that. She let out a deep sigh and watched him as he turned to her and kissed her forehead.
Corvina’s eyes snapped open with the same dream she was seeing every night. Sitting up on the bed, she placed her hand against her chest as she listened to her ridiculously beating heart. It was the same dream, every night, over six months. Even though she had this dream for over six months, she never saw the man’s face because every time he turned and kissed the girl’s forehead, she woke up from her dream.
Both the man and the girl looked like they were from the ancient time, their clothes and everything. She could tell that the man was handsome and young from the way she saw him but what an unfortunate thing, she never got a chance to see his face in her dreams. Letting out a deep sigh, Corvina got up from the bed and walked towards the dressing table before looking at herself through the mirror.
This has been happening to her ever since she became eighteen years old. Her birthday night was the first day she saw this dream. She was curious, she wanted to know but she didn’t have the courage to tell her step mother about this. Gazing at herself through the mirror for a while, she touched her long raven hair as she braided it loosely. She sighed and walked towards the window as she looked out of it.
Outside was an unexpected gift from nature. Lighting flashing across the sky made indescribable patterns on it. So beautiful. The rain drops falling down from the sky furiously. Seeing the beautiful but dangerous rainy night, her heart was suppressed by unknown feelings. Those feelings were just new to her. Hurt, sadness and betrayal, she was filled with those emotions.
“Corvina.”
Hearing her step mother’s voice, she gasped and those unknown feelings flew away from her. She immediately walked towards the door and opened it as she looked at her step mother who was looking at her with wide eyes. Corvina was confused and she didn’t know the reason behind her expression.
“Your father’s pressure tablets are not here. I can’t find them. You should go and buy them now.” Corvina was taken back hearing her. She did nothing but look at the time as she saw it was almost eleven-thirty at night.
She didn’t want to go out, it was raining so badly and it was almost midnight. She was scared to go alone, she bit her lower lip helplessly and looked at her step mother’s face before nodding at her. Even though she didn’t want to leave, she had to go because it was her father and her father needed those tablets so badly.
“Hurry up, wear something and come.” With that, her stepmother walked away.
She entered the room again and grabbed a short denim skirt randomly along with a cami cardigan set. Changing into the clothes, she wore sandals before hurrying out of the room and to downstairs. Taking money from her stepmother, she grabbed an umbrella before going out of the house.
As she came out of the house, chilly wind ruthlessly kissed her skin as she hugged herself and hurried her steps wanting to go to the supermarket. The rain was so heavy and so dangerous but she had to ignore everything and run towards the supermarket.
“I need Benazepril,” Corvina said impatiently as she looked at the pharmacist in the supermarket. The pharmacist gazed at her for a while and looked at the piece of paper in her hand which was confirmed by a doctor before nodding at her and giving her what she needed.
After paying, Corvina ran out of the supermarket wanting to reach her house as soon as possible. It was almost twelve in the night and her heart was hammering against her chest with fear. Even though vehicles were traveling everywhere through the road and the city was lit up by the lights she was scared of the darkness and especially she was scared of the midnight.
While walking towards the house, she suddenly heard a sound of a man. The sound was as if the man was scared. Corvina gasped, she looked at the park beside her but she couldn’t see anything because of the rain. Putting medicine into the pocket of her skirt, she hurried her steps but again she heard a sound of a man’s whimper.
She was kind hearted, she always helped people no matter what. So ignoring the rain and her fear, she entered the park while clutching the handle of the umbrella tightly. Walking towards where the sound came from, she looked in the direction. Then her heart clenched seeing a man sitting against the street lamp which was in the park as he watched in front of him with a trembling body.
She stepped ahead wanting to help him thinking that he was cold because of the rain and his soaked clothes but she stopped subconsciously and followed the man’s eyes as she looked in front of him. Corvina gasped, horror took over her. She took a few steps back with fear as her body trembled.
There was a huge jet black wolf, perfectly blending into the darkness. His long fur was straightened up as if he had shook off the water from his body. He was gritting his teeth as his murderous red eyes gazed at the man. He slowly approached the man as a predator who was approaching his prey.
She didn’t miss the wolf's dangerousness. But she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. How can a wolf become this big? She asked herself as she watched the wolf. Sudden emotions surged into her mind along with familiarity about the wolf but she completely ignored those emotions and stared at the wolf.
Instantly, the wolf let out a growl before ripping the man’s throat apart with his sharp daggers like teeth. Corvina was shocked, her body went numb seeing blood. Blood was dripping down from the wolf’s teeth as he watched the lifeless body on the ground. She slowly took a step back, without moving her eyes away from the huge murderous wolf in front of her.
Then the next thing she witnessed made her heart stop for a moment and then beat again in a ridiculous manner. Huge black wolf she was looking at, turned into a man. He was naked, but Corvina had no strength to move her eyes over his body. All she did was stare at his face. He was… gorgeous. She had never seen a man like this before.
Licking the blood in his lips, he raised his strong muscular arms before traveling them through his hair as he combed his hair back with his fingers. A cruel smirk appeared on his face gazing at the dead body. Suddenly, his eyes sharpened and they moved to her. His eyes widened, their eyes met and both of them had frozen looks on their faces.
Because of the shiver which was controlling Corvina’s body, she subconsciously dropped the umbrella as the rain fell on her body making her drenched. She couldn’t move, she felt she was tied by invisible threads. Her lips trembled. Her mind screamed her to run from this danger but she couldn’t because she was both shocked and terrified.
A low growl escaped from him as he looked at her, she didn’t miss the way his body stiffened seeing her and his perfect sharp jaws clenched along with his muscles. She took a few steps back staring at the dangerous yet attractive emerald eyes before moving her eyes to the dead man on the ground.
No… she didn’t want to die. She was just a teenager and she had more to live. The thought came into her mind as it gave her an unknown encouragement, then she turned and ran as fast as she could before looking back.
“Don’t… don’t come after me. Please.. God, save me!”
She kept murmuring this as she ran until she reached the house. Barging into the house, she took out the medicine from the pocket before placing it on the coffee table and then ran into the room as she closed the door and locked it.
