It was 9:00 pm, and the moon shone brightly in the sky. The night was cold as the winter breeze blew gently. Everywhere was silent. It was as if all the night creatures in Red moon pack have suddenly gone into hiding.

Everyone in the pack was gathered in the training ground.

It was Luna Diana's rejection ceremony. Her mate, the alpha of the pack was rejecting her as his mate and luna.

Diana stood in front of the mirror as she stared at her reflection. She could not believe what was actually about to happen.

She smiled bitterly as she recalled how she met Fred Meyer eight years ago.

Eight years ago......

Diana had accompanied Claire to a night party even though she was not a party type since Claire pleaded with her to come along with her.

Mid way into the party, Claire excused herself to the restroom.

Diana checked her watch for the umpteenth time as she looked at the direction Claire took half an hour ago.

She could not help but get worried about the whereabout of her younger sister.

Out of anxiety, she grabbed the bottle of wine on the table and drank it all in one gulp without knowing that it was alcoholic.

Some minutes later, she was queasy. She rushed out of the bar to the lady's. She emptied the content of her stomach into the toilet bowl.

She sighed in relief as she stood up from the floor. She flushed the toilet and washed her mouth and face.

She made to go out as soon as she was done, but the door was forced opened by three men.

She gasped in shock as they walked closer to her. Out of instinct, she moved backwards till her back hit the wall behind her.

They laughed evilly as they saw that they had cornered her.

" Come to us baby girl, we promise to be gentle with you." One of them said while the others laughed.

Diana's heart beat sporadically as realization done on her.

She was about to be gang rape. There was no way she would allow those drunkards have their way with her! Diana thought with determination.

With that thought, she let out an ear piercing shriek with the belief that someone would hear her and come to her rescue since she stood no chance against them.

She was outnumbered. Moreover, they were werewolves while she was human.

Two loud slaps landed on her cheeks, shutting her up immediately.

Without wasting more time, one of them tore her clothes while the other two held her in place.

* This is the end of me.* Diana thought and shut her eyes as he saw the man in front of her pulled down his pants.

He was about to penetrate her when the door was forcefully opened.

They groaned in annoyance as they turned sharply to face the intruder. But their eyes nearly came out of their sockets when they saw the person before them.

" Alpha?" They called out in shock.

" So Dan, you and your gang are still causing havoc in the human world. Now go to the dungeon and wait for me." The alpha said coldly.

Diana sighed in relief as she discovered that she was saved.

" Thanks so much alpha." Diana said shakily as she used her hands to cover herself.

She had addressed him as 'alpha' as she had assumed that, that was his name.

* This human is really amusing. I wonder what she will do when she discovers my true Identity.* The alpha thought silently.

" You are welcome. Be careful next time." The alpha said as he used his jacket to cover her.

" I'm Fred Meyer." Alpha Fred introduced himself to her as they walked out of the lady's.

" But I thought your name is alpha. I heard those men address you as alpha." Diana said as she looked at him in confusion.

It was no news that humans have no knowledge of the existence of the werewolves even though the werewolves do go into the human world to improve on their knowledge.

To the humans, werewolves were nothing but imaginary creatures in folktales.

" Well, you see, alpha is not a name. It's actually a title like a king. That's how a king is addressed in my kingdom." Alpha Fred tried his best to explain without scaring her away.

" It's nice meeting you alpha Fred. I'm Diana Diamond Ross." Diana said with a smile.

" I want you to call me Fred. I don't want you to call me alpha." Alpha Fred said with a smile.

And that was the start of their relationship.

Two months later, alpha Fred decided to tell Diana who he truly was. He actually told her that he was a werewolf.

Of course she did not believe him. Well, that was until he transformed into his big brown wolf. Diana passed out as a result of fright.

Some hours later, Diana gained consciousness. Even though she was scared of Fred, she was also enthralled with the fact that he could change forms.

Alpha Fred took his time and explained everything about werewolves to her.

He also expressed his love for her and asked her to be his mate.

Though Diana was scared, she agreed to be his mate. But she pleaded with him to allow her younger sister Claire to follow her to her pack as she was not comfortable been the only human in the midst of werewolves. Alpha Fred agreed to her request as a result of his love for her.

The mating ceremony was held three months after.

And they have been living peacefully ever since. Well, until Fred suddenly decided to terminate their relationship.

Presently......

She was not going to give Fred the satisfaction of seeing her in pains. Diana told herself as she held her head up high and made her way to the training ground where the rejection ceremony will be holding.

Murmurs began as soon as she got to the training ground.

Some were sympathizing with her while others were mocking her.

She tried her best to ignore all the negative comments about her and focus on the matter at hand.

Diana's heart constricted in pain as she saw the man who she had spent eight years with.

Standing few meters away from him, was her sister, Claire. Well, she was actually her stepsister. She gave Diana a smirk as their eyes met.

Diana could tell that she had something up her sleeves.

" Now that the Luna is here, let's begin the ceremony." The oldest person in the pack, elder Bill said and immediately everywhere became quiet.

" Alpha Fred, are you sure about this? Once it is done, it can't be reversed." Elder Bill said cautiously.

" I'm certain about this. Let's get this over with ." Alpha Fred snapped.

" We are all gathered here to witness the rejection ceremony between alpha Fred and Luna Diana. Before I invite the couple to break their vows to each other,I will like to invite alpha Fred to tell us why he is rejecting his mate." Elder Bill said with a loud voice.

It was the norm of the werewolves to state why they wanted to reject their mates. That had been the practice from time immemorial. The reason for that,was to prevent unfair rejection of one's mate.

" Very well I will tell you." Alpha Fred said angrily and brought out a brown envelope from his pocket.

" This is the fertility test of my mate, Diana. It was proven that she will not be able to conceive for the rest of her life as a result of an abortion she had during her teenage age."

" Apparently, the abortion was done by a quack. As the alpha of this great pack, I need an heir that will succeed me. Since Diana won't be able to give me an heir, I have decided to reject her and take another mate who will be able to give me an heir." Fred said with a loud voice as he handed over the result of the test to elder Bill.

Elder Bill sighed and shook his head sadly. After which he passed it to other elders.

" Seeing that your reason to reject your mate is right, you can now break your vows to each other." Elder Bill said with a loud voice.

How could he say that after all she had done for the pack? Diana asked herself silently.

When Diana got mated to Fred, the pack was not strong. They were prone to attack by other packs.

Diana suggested that Fred should train everyone in the pack for self defense. Fred agreed to Diana's suggestion and training started for everyone in the pack from age three.

Gradually, Red moon pack grew to become a strong pack with the best warriors.

Diana also ensured that they acquired some war gadgets from the human world that will help them fight against their enemies.

Some of the women in the pack died during delivery as a result of complications from childbirth.

Diana personally ensured that the pack doctor enrolled in a college in the human world to study medicine so as to curb the rate of deaths during childbirth.

Some of the people who assisted in the infirmary were also given opportunity to go to the human world to study courses like pharmacy, nursing, and others.

With these, they were able to avert a lot of deaths.

Now look at what they are repaying her with.

None of them could even even say a word her favour.

Diana blinked back the tears that threatened to fall.

Bunch of hypocrites! None of them was worth crying for. She told myself silently as she made her way to the podium to meet Fred for the rejection ceremony.

" I, Fred Meyer, the alpha of Red moon pack reject you, Diana Diamond Ross as my mate and Luna. Henceforth, I break the mate bond that binds us together as mates." Fred said in a loud voice as he sliced his palm and allowed the blood to flow into the golden cup that was suspended above the fire.

His palm healed almost immediately. That was one of the spike of being a werewolf.

" I, Diana Diamond Ross, Luna of red moon pack accept the rejection of Fred Meyer, the alpha of Red moon pack as his mate and Luna. Henceforth, I accept that the bond that binds us together is broken." Diana said in a loud voice as she sliced my palm and allowed the blood to flow into the golden cup suspended above the fire.

She was human so her wound did not heal.

She winced as one of the maids disinfected her wound and wrapped up her hand in bandages to stop her from losing more blood.

Diana sighed sadly as she remember that it was still under the same full moon they took their vows during their mating ceremony eight years ago.

How ironic could life be? Some eight years ago, Fred Meyer stood under the full moon and before all these people and make a vow to love and stick to her no matter what. But here he was today breaking the vow he made. Diana thought silently as she came down from the podium.

Even though she was hurt, she tried so hard to hide hide emotions as she kept a straight face.

From the corners of her eyes, Diana could see Claire smiled happily as soon as the rejection ceremony was over.

Fred moved towards elder Bill and whispered something to him. Elder Bill widened his eyes in shock but quickly covered it up with a smile.

Fred smiled as he moved forward to address the people.

Diana could not help but wondered what he wanted to say. She looked away as her eyes came in contact with Fred's who gave her a smirk.

With one look at him, she could tell that whatever he was about to say, would hurt her to the core.

" We all know that the position of the Luna can not be vacant. I want you to know who your next Luna will be." Fred said and paused as he scanned through the crowd.

* Goddess! Let it not be what I am thinking.* Diana muttered silently as she fixed my eyes on Fred.

She blinked back the tears that was threatening to fall.

Fred smirked as he saw her teary eyes.

" Claire Saint Ross will be your new Luna. The mating ceremony will be held in three days time. " Fred announced earning gasps from the crowd.

" Claire, come forward." Fred called out sweetly.

Claire majestically cat walked to the front, feeling proud and elated.

" Will you be my mate and Luna, Claire Saint Ross?" Fred asked with a smile.

" Of course I will be your mate and Luna," Claire replied happily.

Fred smiled at her and hugged her tightly. He loosened his hands on her and drew her close before crashing his lips on hers.

The tears Diana was holding back, flowed freely. She could not believe that Fred would publicly humiliate her that way.

She subconsciously touched my stomach as she remembered why she had lied
