Bai Xiatong had just typed the last character, and before she had time to stretch languidly, she was startled by a thunderous knock at the door.
She closed her laptop, reluctantly rising from her chair while chiding, "Bai Rui, you good-for-nothing, did you forget your keys again?"
"Next time if you don't bring them, you'll...” Bai Xiatong flung the door open, only to clamp her mouth shut in surprise at the sight of several men in black suits standing by the entrance.
"Who... who are you looking for?" Confronted by the stern faces, Bai Xiatong's voice wavered slightly.
One of the men in black suits pushed the door open, while another quickly shoved her back into the room. The process was so speedy that Bai Xiatong was plopped on the little sofa in the living room before she could even react.
Following this, four men in black surrounded her at her left and right. Even before Bai Xiatong could recover her bearings, another man, tall and striking, loomed into sight.
This man... was breathtakingly handsome!
Dressed in a pure black cashmere coat, which further accentuated his tall and erect figure, his icy demeanor, those deep and pitch-black eyes, and his thin lips... He was a spitting image of a domineering CEO right out of a novel!
"Bai Rui lives here?" The man spoke, his voice low and frosty.
Faced with him, all Bai Xiatong could do was nod dumbly.
"What is your relation to him?" The man took a cursory glance at her, his words a mere statement.
"I'm his sister. Do...do you need something from him?" Bai Xiatong cautiously looked around before asking.
Did that little rascal Rui get himself into trouble?
A single look was enough for Bai Xiatong to discern that this man was not some ordinary person to be trifled with. Given his imposing demeanor and the specificity of his question, it was unlikely he got the wrong person.
"You're asking me if I need something?" The man leaned over slightly, locking eyes with Bai Xiatong.
His eyes were indeed perfect, but his gaze was too cold, causing a chilling fear.
"Take her away!" The man straightened his back and spoke in a low voice to the four figures clad in black around him. After giving the orders, he took his leave from the room.
The four dutifully bowed their heads in acknowledgment, two of them each grabbing one of Bai Xiatong's arms ready to drag her towards the doorway.
"What are you doing? I'm not going!" Sensing something was wrong, Bai Xiatong forcefully threw off the two men's grip, clutching the laptop on the table and swiftly ducking into the space under the desk.
"Help! Somebody help! I'm being kidnapped, help..." Bai Xiatong tried to squeeze herself further into the corner under the desk, all the while yelling for help.
The man dressed in black crouched down, taking advantage of his long reach, to firmly grasp Bai Xiatong's ankle. Before she could struggle, he yanked her out from underneath the table.
Bai Xiatong, still clutching the laptop, was surrounded by the four black-clad men and in a matter of moments there was no room for resistance.
She was pitifully grabbed by both her arms and legs and swiftly carried out of the room.
"Where are you taking me? This is kidnapping, it's a crime! Help me! Murder!" Bai Xiatong was rendered immobile in their hold, yet didn't let it stop her from shouting.
However, despite her screams, there was not a soul who came to help in such a large residential building!
And so, with her laptop tucked into her clothes, Bai Xiatong was thrown into a black car and tightly held down in the back seat by the four men.
"I'm going to call the police! Hel...mmmm, mmmm!" A random piece of material was stuffed into her mouth, stifling her cry for help.
She could feel the car being started but was pinned down tightly, unable to see anything beyond the confines of the vehicle, let alone know where they were heading.
Bai Xiatong gritted her teeth tightly, cursing Bai Rui, that numbskull, from top to bottom in her mind!
If they weren't siblings, she would even damn his ancestors eight generations back!
Where did this fellow attract these bastards from, arbitrarily kidnapping her without any explanation? They didn't seem to say where they were taking her, could it be that they planned to sell her off?
Trading her body to pay off a debt?
As a webnovel author, Bai Xiatong had countless plots swim in her head about female protagonists being sold to old lechers because of their family's debts. She just didn't think such an outrageous situation would actually happen to her.
Good heavens…
This is too absurd!
