Rebels
Part 1
Maeve's POV
"Welcome to Valbridge f*ckers!" I read the sign post out loud as the red mustang sped onwards.
"Damn this effect never wears off." Wellie said from the backseat.
I glanced back and Wellie had his face buried between Juliet's t!ts. I screwed my nose and he winked at me.
"Kai Pike, wake your sleepy arse up. We are about to wreck some real damage." I threw my keyholder at the said sleepy head.
Kai woke with a wince. "My head f*cking throbs. Damn this hangover."
Warm hands reached out for mine and squeezed lightly. I returned the squeeze and looked up to Riley, my heartthrob, his eyes fixed on the road before us, a ghost smile trailing on his lips as he drove. I mirrored his smile as I turned up the volume of Light Me Up by Bronze Radio Return.
Holding Riley's hand, I rested my head on the headrest, enjoying the breezy night, the music and the company of my friends. Riley started to sing along the radio and I joined in, nodding my head to the music.
"Turn down the goddamn volume." Kai groaned.
Riley cracked out a laugh, bringing my hand to his mouth and pressing a small kiss. "Haters gonna hate." Riley said as he put down the music.
Then Wellie and Juliet jointly let out a loud moan.
"Here we go again. F*cking rabbits in heat." I mumbled out, glaring at Wellie. Through the dim light of the car, Juliet was straddling Wellie in her flimsy dress, grinding her hip to Wellie's.
Kai cussed.
I closed my eyes, blocking Juliet's annoying high pitch moaning sound, focusing on Riley's hands in mine.
School resumed three days from today and I wasn't ready. Riley, Kai, Wellie, Juliet and I were just returning from our holiday Trip to Maple. My cell phone pinged and I veered to the lightened screen. The time was 1AM. I unlocked my phone and reluctantly clicked on the inbox. It was a message from dad.
DAD: YOU'RE DRIVING ME CRAZY. WHERE ARE YOU?
I ignored the message.
DAD: TALK TO ME, MAEVE. I'M WORRIED SICK.
I clicked my tongue.
DAD: baby girl, tell me where you're let me come get you.
I ignored the message again. I wasn't his baby girl anymore. That ship sailed. Long, long ago. In fact, I was nineteen now. So according to the constitution I wasn't a child.
DAD: DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE STILL HANGING OUT WITH THOSE GOOD FOR NOTHING FRIENDS OF YOURS.
I could hear his stern voice in my head. I huffed and snapped out a reply.
ME: OH, I SO AM!
Without waiting for his comeback, I switched off my phone.
"Let me guess, Sheriff Morrison?" Riley who was peering at me from the corner of his eye asked.
I nodded in reply. "Daddy dearest."
I saw questions written over Riley's face but he didn't bother to ask them. I didn't want him to ask though. Not that I would reply to him. Riley just knew I hated dad and I hung out with him and did crazy shit to piss dad off. A mischievous glint darts towards Riley's eyes. "Let’s announce our presence in a way that's unique to us."
"F*ck yes!" Wellie grunted.
I rolled my eyes. Not sure if Wellie was replying to Riley or encouraging Juliet to dry hump him harder.
"Kai Pike are you there?" I asked to keep Kai from sleeping off again.
His answering groan told me he was indeed not here.
"Alcohol is not for you." I told Kai as the car halted.
"Speaking like the Sheriff in the making." He slurred out a reply.
Wellie started to laugh but I silenced him with a scorching glare. He stopped mid-laugh and cussed. "Damn she's so mean."
"Only when she means to." Riley sides me.
"Thank you." I told Riley.
"Anytime babe."
"Can we get this party started?" Juliet whinnied.
"Patience baby." Wellie replied.
Juliet lets out a frustrating sound. "How many times do I have to tell you this Wells? I got none. I'm beginning to doubt if you listen to me outside the bedroom at all."
I could feel Wellie cooking up a retort. "Children." I started, quenching the fire before it started. "Let's behave ourselves. Yes?"
I looked at both of them in the eye trying hard to keep from busting out in laughter. "No fighting in public today." I chided.
Kai Pike laughed out loud and I couldn't keep from laughing too. Before we knew, we were all laughing like the maniacs we were.
Damn. I loved my goddamned friends.
As if reading my thoughts, Riley arched a brow at me. "I love you." I said.
Riley rubbed circles at the back of my hand, holding my eyes. "You too." He mouthed.
Juliet cussed. "Cheesy chickens."
"Damn straight." Kai Pike agreed.
"Right! I take back my words, Jullie baby. Let's indeed get this party started." Wellie said, stepping out of the car.
