Whack!
A slap landed on Shu Zhiqing's face, catching her off guard. For a moment, everything went blank in her mind and her ears were buzzing, as if thunder had struck her.
"You hit me?"
She turned to Tang Yanfeng incredulously, her heart aching tremendously, "Over a broken cup?"
Tang Yanfeng could not control his anger anymore, "What do you mean 'just a cup'? Do you know what this cup means..."
He paused, not continuing his words, "Pick it up and fix it for me!"
Shu Zhiqing stood there, feeling as if the blood in her entire body had frozen.
So in his heart, she was less important than a cup from his ex-girlfriend.
They were about to get married, both of them busy discussing matters about their marriage license. Tang Yanfeng had asked her to visit his house in advance to check what else needed to be added.
She had grown up with Tang Yanfeng, and after two years of romance, they had discussed marriage. Their parents were overjoyed.
And she? She was ecstatic, feeling like the happiest woman in the world.
While sorting out toiletries, she accidentally broke a mug on the table. This mug was a testimony to Tang Yanfeng's four-year relationship with his ex-girlfriend, which he had still kept after they had broken up.
Shu Zhiqing had witnessed their entire love story and knew how much Tang Yanfeng had once loved that girl.
But she was about to become Tang Yanfeng's wife, and she didn't think Tang Yanfeng would blame her for this accident, after all these years had passed.
To be honest, she had always had a grudge against this cup.
Perhaps this was the arrangement of fate, wiping away all possible barriers before they stepped into the marriage hall.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing the news of the broken glass, he drove straight over, a slap landing on her face!
"Heh, you want me to fix it?"
"Is it because it was given to you by your ex-girlfriend?" Shu Zhiqing's voice carried an interrogation, but her concealed trembling was evident, "We're about to get married, do you still plan on keeping her things around for a lifetime? If you liked her so much, why did you end up with me?"
"I didn't break the glass, I broke the connection between you and her, is that why you're so angry?"
"Shut up!" Tang Yanfeng radiated a frigid aura. His hand was still trembling slightly as he roared through gritted teeth, "Get out!"
Shu Zhiqing's eyes were tear-streaked, the tears swirling in her sockets, blurring her vision.
She trembled her lips, and whispered, "Tang Yanfeng, what have I done wrong?"
She quickly fled from Tang Yanfeng's home, fearing that if she stayed a second longer, she would break down and cry in front of him.
Tang Yanfeng crouched down, beginning to pick up the porcelain fragments from the floor.
He noticed that the hand he had used to hit her was still numb, irritating him.
Suddenly, he threw the fragments in his hand onto the ground, the already shattered porcelain instantly turned into a pile of dust.
Shu Zhiqing ran out, in her haste, she twisted her heel, and fell to the ground.
Both her palm and knees had cuts, bleeding. She didn't care about the pain, grabbing her bag, she scrambled up, only wanting to rush home, away from this heartbreaking place.
She stumbled while running, brushing past a tall man and left without looking back.
The man watched everything that had just happened unfurl before him. He glanced down at the keys and lipstick that had fallen onto the ground, thinking to remind her, but when he turned round, all he saw was her taillights disappearing into the night.
Shu Zhiqing returned to her home, turning her bag inside out but was unable to find her keys.
She leaned against the door, her left cheek burning with pain, tears fell like lost pearls from her eyes.
She tilted her head back, managing to stop her tears finally.
She decided to go back and look for her keys; she guessed that they had fallen out of her bag when she fell.
As she just left the gates of her residential community, a man suddenly blocked her way. Without getting a good look at his face, she hoarsely said,"No soliciting, thanks."
Just as she was about to bypass him, the man reached out his hand:"You lost these on the West Road."
She glanced down and saw a pair of keys and a lipstick lying in the man's palm.
She looked up at the man standing in front of her, he was tall, likely over 1.85 meters, even taller than Tang Yanfeng.
He had good looks and a cool demeanor, exuding the aura of a high-IQ elite.
The man was also looking at her, and his eyes noticeably faltered when they landed on her face.
As she received the keys, she subconsciously used her hand to cover the swollen side of her face and thanked him in a low voice," Thank you for bringing them over. I really appreciate it."
She then took out her phone and said,"Sir, let me transfer some gas money to you."
"No need. It was nothing."
Realizing that he was staring at her was somewhat impolite, he quickly shifted his gaze away and walked off.
Shu Zhiqing laid at home without moving for two days, her phone turned off all the while. On the afternoon of the third day, the doorbell rang.
She felt weak all over, her face aching terribly. Nevertheless, she forced herself to get up from the bed and answer the door.
Upon opening, her childhood friend and confidante, Liu Yuwei, was standing at the entrance. She was about to berate Shu Zhiqing, but the sight of Shu's listless appearance made her furrow her brows instantly, "What happened to you?"
Feeling something was off, Liu Yuwei brushed away the hair covering the left side of Shu's face, her expression instantly turning serious as if she had been struck by lightning. She asked sternly, "What happened to your face? Who hit you?"
Maintaining her silence, Shu Zhiqing did not respond. Liu Yuwei did not pressure her for answers immediately. After entering the room, she boiled a bowl of noodles for Shu.
After Shu finished eating, Liu Yuwei persisted in her inquiry, "Who on earth did this to your face?"
