"Has the Heaven really given me a chance to start again?"

In the dark alleyway, Chu Yi was staring intently at his phone screen, with his fingers slightly trembling.

The time displayed was just right, it was indeed the moment that had completely altered his destiny.

This day, this place, everything was all too familiar.

Memories from ten years ago surged up like a flood.

Back then, he had happened to pass by this alley and saw Zhou Manman's mother, Liang Qing, being cornered by three ruffians.

Thinking of Zhou Manman, Chu Yi's heart was filled with mixed feelings.

She was the school beauty he had chased for a full three years in high school.

In order to have more chances to interact with her, he even deliberately chose the same university and major as her.

When he saw Liang Qing in trouble, he rushed up without a second thought.

Relying on his regular physical training and a height close to 1.8 meters, he was not the least bit afraid to fight the three on his own.

A few rounds later, the three ruffians were knocked to the ground by him, lying there, beaten black and blue, wailing.

After subduing the bad guys, Chu Yi was about to pull out his phone to call the police, but he was stopped by Liang Qing.

She was worried that this incident might ruin her reputation if it gets out.

Looking back at it now, Chu Yi's heart was filled with bitterness.

What seemed like a heroic scene of saving the damsel in distress turned into the onset of his nightmare.

Liang Qing calculated that even though she was not violated by the three thugs, once the incident spreads among neighbors, the truth would be distorted beyond recognition.

It's frightening how rumors spread, from one to ten and ten to a hundred, who knows how the story would morph in the end.

Chu Yi carefully pondered over this matter.

Considering the potential social gossip it would cause Liang Qing, he eventually gave up on the thought of calling the police.

However, the following morning, the police abruptly showed up at his door, catching him off guard.

It turns out that one of the thugs involved in the brawl the previous night had died due to severe injuries.

Facing this situation, Chu Yi showed no sign of panic.

He was well versed in relevant laws, knowing full well that during the prevention of ongoing crimes such as rape, kidnapping, murder, even if it leads to the death of the perpetrator, it will not be regarded as excessive self-defense and there is no legal liability that needs to be assumed.

Ideally, this should have been a straightforward case of heroic acts.

Nevertheless, things took an unexpected turn.

Liang Qing, astonishingly, vehemently denied that she was being violated at the time. She claimed that the three thugs were merely asking her for directions, and it was Chu Yi who, unprovoked, began to fight.

Just like that, an act that was supposed to be recognized as an admirable act of bravery, under Liang Qing's distortion of the truth, tragically turned into an appalling case of intentional homicide.

In the end, Chu Yi was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.

Memories of the agonizing ten-year prison life surged up, a chilling frost glinting in the corners of Chu Yi's eyes.

Those distressing years were like a sharp blade stabbing deeply into his heart every single day.

"Do you beasts have any idea how I've survived these past ten years?"

He murmured through gritted teeth, subconsciously tightening his fist.

He despised the Zhou Manman family the most.

What he thought was a moment of confused accusations from Leaing Qing, turned out to be a meticulous conspiracy.

Leiang Qing, Zhou Anshan, and the woman, Zhou Manman, whom he had desperately pursued for three years, conspired to land him in jail.

Ironically, Zhou Manman did not speak a word of justice for him. Instead, she became the mastermind behind the entire scheme.

The goddess he once cherished, turned out to be the demon who pushed him into the abyss.

"There are various ways to get revenge," Chu Yi's lips curled into a cold smirk, "I want you to slowly taste the bitterness of despair until you wish for death."

He wasn’t planning to use the most violent way for retaliation.

Compared to a direct and blunt way, he preferred to let them endure the prolonged torment.

Only such revenge can truly heal the deep wounds in his heart over these ten years.

Checking the time, Chu Yi quickly hid behind a nearby trash can, quietly waiting for the first step of his revenge plan to begin.

Within five minutes, restrained groans and messy footsteps echoed in the alley.

Three thugs appeared at the entrance of the alley, leading a plump woman into the alley.

Chu Yi squinted his eyes, there stood Liang Qing who he had been waiting for.

A thug covered her mouth, while two others held her limbs tightly, skillfully dragging her to a spot less than two meters from the trash bin.

Roughly thirty minutes later, Chu Yi slowly got up from behind the trash bin.

He bowed his head to see the video he just took, a chill smile appearing at the corner of his mouth: "Aunt Liang, I wonder how your husband would feel after watching this interesting little clip?"

He scoffed lightly, departing the alley in a direction opposite to Liang Qing.

Once he returned to the dilapidated residential building, Chu Yi took a shower.

As he stood before the full-length mirror in his bathroom, he examined the young body reflected in the mirror.

There were no complicated and intertwined scars that had been left behind in prison. His muscles were solid and elastic.

"Such a fine age..."

He murmured to himself, a meaningful smile flickering in his eyes.

Chu Yi continued to gaze into the mirror, scanning over his unblemished face.

The terrifying scar that had once curved from his left eye to his right mouth corner, akin to a centipede, was completely gone.

The beauty of this moment almost took his breath away.

He took a deep breath, lit a cigarette, and slowly sank into the couch.

Amongst the swirling smoke, his thoughts began to surge.

Reborn anew, revenge was naturally his top priority.

He could not easily overlook the despicable behavior of Zhou Manman and her family.

However, since fate has given him a second chance, life should not be solely colored by hatred.

A decade in prison had made him miss out on too much of what's beautiful.

He hadn't tasted gourmet delicacies nor been close to fine wine and beautiful women.

These regrets had to be rectified one by one.

And to fulfill these, money was the key.

Revenge was important, indeed, but accumulating wealth was just as crucial.

Over the years in jail, he had heard from his cellmates about numerous paths to sudden wealth.

Yet most of these methods were too risky; after all, business that can land one in jail is rarely clean.

The most important thing right now was to carefully consider and choose the right opportunities, he had to carefully ponder and find a few relatively safe options.
