Dan Yuwei had just finished washing the dishes and was wiping the water droplets off her hands with a tissue in the living room when she got a call from her best friend.
"Vivi, I'm coming back home! I've finally won my divorce case!" Jing Shi's voice was filled with joy.
Dan Yuwei, however, was taken aback and didn't know how to respond for a while.
Jing Shi's voice continued through the receiver, "Vivi, you were correct, everyone has the right to pursue happiness, I love Ze Cheng and I shouldn't miss out on him any longer!"
Dan Yuwei grunted in agreement, only to find her own voice sounding somewhat hoarse.
"I will sort everything out here as quickly as possible, and be back within a week, Vivi, see you then!" Jing Shi hung up after she finished talking, leaving Dan Yuwei standing there with her phone, the busy signal sounding in her ears.
A tall figure emerged from the bedroom. Seeing Dan Yuwei standing there with her phone, he asked, "What's wrong?"
Dan Yuwei turned to look at him.
Lu Ze Cheng had presumably just taken a bath, wearing a deep blue bathrobe, towelling his wet hair. The robe's neck was open, revealing part of his chest. His figure was tall and slender- all in all, it was a delicious sight.
"Nothing." Dan Yuwei stuffed her phone into her bag and casually mentioned, "Jing Shi said she is coming back."
As she was bending to put away her phone, she caught a glimpse of Lu Ze Cheng slowing his movements of drying his hair due to her words. His face remained as composed as ever.
"Mm." This matter didn't seem to affect Lu Ze Cheng much. He continued to dry his hair. "The bath water is ready for you, go take a bath."
Dan Yuwei's nose twitched involuntarily; she nodded and headed low.
After tidying up the living room, Dan Yuwei returned to her room, picked up her pajamas, and went to the bathroom. She sat in the bathtub, hugging her knees and lost in thought for nearly an hour before grabbing a towel to dry herself when the water got cold.
When she came out, the lights in the bedroom had been turned off, leaving only one small lamp on the bedside table. The light was warm and yellow.
Lu Ze Cheng had been so busy with two major cases recently that he didn't have any rest all day. Only after the court trial was over did he finally have time to come back, and for the past few days, he went to bed early.
Shan Yuwei tiptoed over, lifted the blanket, and slid in. As soon as her body touched the bed, a big hand came over, pulling her thin body into his arms, his voice lazy, obviously sleepy, "Sleep."
Shan Yuwei didn't make a sound, obediently nestled in his arms.
A while later, rhythmic breathing came from the top of her head. She moved her head out, lifted it bit by bit, from Lu Ze Cheng's chin to his nose, then to his handsome face, and she got lost in thought while gazing at him.
She traced the shape of the man's lips in front of her with her finger, feeling a bit bitter in her heart.
Four years, she had been guarding him for four years, accompanying him for four years, and sharing a bed with him for four years.
Their relationship was not boyfriend and girlfriend, rather, more like bedmates.
Lu Zecheng had never publicly acknowledged their relationship, and she was also afraid of their relationship being exposed.
After all, Lu Ze Cheng was Jing Shi's ex-boyfriend...
Would all this end with the return of Jing Shi?
She was hesitant and apprehensive.
…
The next morning, Shan Yuwei got up early to prepare breakfast, after waking up Lu Ze Cheng, she began to tidy up her things at this apartment, clothes, cosmetics, towels, toothbrushes, even hairs had to be cleaned up.
When Shan Yuwei pulled out the suitcase, Lu Ze Cheng appeared quite displeased, frowning at her, "What are you doing? Looks like you are moving out from my place?"
"No..." Shan Yuwei continued to stuff things into the suitcase, trying to keep her voice natural.
"You know it's the peak season now, and our shop is in a prime location, sometimes very busy with promotions, it is not convenient to travel back and forth every day. I will stay there for a while, and will come back when it's less busy. It won't be too long."
