"Brother Bai, don't! What if someone from the office comes looking for you while you're still at work?"

"Well isn't that easy to solve? I've already told them not to disturb me for no good reason, we're having a chat here, so go easy. Hehe."

"Brother Bai, you're such a naughty one, but it's quite thrilling."

"Is that so? Is Little Daz not up to par?"

"As for him, he's nowhere near as good as you. Let's not even mention him, it's a mood killer."

Liu Yida stood at the doorway of the conference room, straining his ears to listen to the conversation taking place inside.

One was his own boss, and the other was his girlfriend. He could hardly believe it.

At this moment, Liu Yida felt a flame of nameless rage ignited in his head, burning relentlessly, causing him unbearable pain.

"I'll beat the hell out of you both."

Liu Yida ferociously kicked the door open with one foot. To his surprise, the door was unlocked. The two individuals inside were instantly stunned.

Lan Lan quickly rose and adjusted her skirt, standing there indignantly, with a pen still in her hand.

Beside her, Liu Yida's boss, Bai Wu, was sitting there, faintly nodding his head, as if he was confirming something with Lan Lan.

"Bai Wu, I'll make you pay today." Liu Yida scanned the room, grabbed a water pipe that was meant for a presentation, and charged over.

Bai Wu was taken aback, but he scoffed coldly and stood up to confront the attack. Seeing Bai Wu daring to resist, Liu Yida swung the pipe towards him.

Bai Wu swiftly sidestepped a blow, then smashed a straightforward punch upon Liu Yida's chest. The massive force knocked Liu Yida back several steps, gasping for air with his mouth wide open, and his face was flushing red.

"Liu Yida, you dare to assault your superior blatantly. Do you know the consequence? Don’t want your job anymore?" Bai Wu snorted coldly, standing in front of Liu Yida, jutting out his chin and stating menacingly.

Liu Yida's face was swollen and red - he struggled to catch his breath, realizing Bai Wu was once a soldier. He did not expect that even after so many years, he still possesses such skills.

"What's going on?"

"What happened?"

The other people in the office, hearing the commotion, came rushing to the scene, excited to catch the spectacle. They watched as Bai Wu grabbed Liu Yida's chin, looking quite threatening. They also heard Bai Wu's words.

Bai Wu shouted towards the entrance, "Liu Yida tried to attack me, but I subdued him. Get back to work and close the door."

Bai Wu was highly respected in the company. Upon hearing his words, everyone exited, as their relationship with Liu Yida was just of acquaintanceship while Bai Wu was their superior. It was crystal clear whose words mattered more.

"Why?" Liu Yida looked at Lanlan, his eyes bloodshot, and his expression was full of sorrow. He couldn’t understand, why this was happening.

If it weren't for a client to meet him later, he would return to the company only to get deceived.

"Why? You're asking me why?" Lanlan’s expression turned fierce, as if Liu Yida hit her raw nerve. "Liu Yida, you're asking me why?"

Lanlan walked towards Liu Yida, pointed at Liu Ydia's nose, and shouted, "Look at yourself, earning only four to five thousand a month, how far do you think that can take you? We've been together for nearly a year, and yet you can’t even afford a house or a car. You promised me happiness, can you deliver? Can you? Enough of this, just leave. You're making everyone uncomfortable. We're over now."

Lanlan turned her back to him and stared out of the window, breathing slowly, seemingly trying to calm her thoughts.

Liu Yida was stunned. He lowered his head and didn’t say another word.

"Hmph," Bai Wu snorted, looking at Liu Yida, and said, "Pack up and get out, you’re not welcome here anymore. Go to the finance department later and clear your monthly salary. As for the commission, it'll be deducted."

Liu Yida stood up, saying in disbelief, "My commission's been deducted? All these accomplishments I had were just this month, more than ten thousand just deducted like that?"

Bai Wu glared fiercely at Liu Yida, scoffing, "What did you expect? If you don't respect the hand that feeds you, you think you deserve even that basic salary of yours?"

Liu Yida shook his head, taking a glance at Lan Lan's receding figure. What could he possibly say? Keep arguing? Keep causing a scene? Just for the amusement of his colleagues?

Sighing, he turned abruptly and left. In the hallway, only Liu Yida's desolate figure lingered.

"I, Liu Yida, really am, truly am, such a loser."

Stepping out of the building, Liu Yida yelled at the sky, "Why are you doing this to me, God? Might as well just strike me dead."

"Crack!"

A bolt of lightning suddenly illuminated the clear sky above him. The next instant, a terrifying clap of thunder struck Liu Yida. He swayed and fell to the ground.

"This guy's got a screw loose, praying to get struck by lightning."

"I see now, it's really amusing, how often do you see someone seeking their own doom, in the form of lightning no less? And getting hit by it!"

"Aren't you guys making this a bigger deal than it is? Call an ambulance now!" A petite girl ran over and found that Liu Yida's breath was steady, so she quickly dialed 120.

"Where am I?"

Liu Yida opened his eyes, gazing at the blank white ceiling, his head felt foggy.

"You're awake. I saw you faint, so I brought you here. The doctor said you're fine, you just need to rest when you get home."

A pretty girl sat next to the hospital bed, picking up a freshly peeled apple to hand to Liu Yida.

Liu Yida only remembered at this point, with the events of the day coming back to him, and he also recognized the person before him. He didn't know her name, but he had seen her often around the building, specifically on the second floor where she works in the beauty salon. She was very pretty and had a good figure. Liu Yida had passed her by many times before, often admiring her from afar.

To his surprise, she also turned out to be incredibly kind-hearted, to the point of bringing an unconscious stranger to the hospital.

“Thank you so much for helping me. I might still be lying here, if it wasn't for you.”

“It's no big deal, I just did what I thought was right. Oh, and by the way, I took the money for the medical fees from your pocket. Don't expect me to pay for you!" the pretty lady said playfully, feigning terror.

"Hey, don’t say that! Would I ever let you pay? How about I treat you to a meal instead?”

“No need, really. I have to return back to work later. I'll leave now since you're awake.”

She stood up and started walking towards the door, but stopped suddenly before exiting.

"Remember not to get struck by lightning again! Haha!”

With that, she left the hospital room laughing, leaving Liu Yida behind with an embarrassed look on his face.

"Hello, Liu Yida, the native. Please, do not continue to mourn. The great potato will bring you happiness."

Suddenly, a robotic electronic voice echoed in Liu Yida's ears.
