"Hmm..."

In the room, a fervent scene was playing out, the sounds ebbing and flowing. Song Wenzhen stood by the door, watching scornfully.

The male protagonist on the bed found an opportunity to raise his head, meeting her gaze from across the room. His lips were curled in a seemingly wicked grin, and his face displayed a blend of pleasure derived from lust and revenge.

Moments later, everything returned to normal.

Shang Yao grabbed a towel, wrapped it around his waist, and strode purposefully towards Song Wenzhen.

Yet, before he had a chance to say anything, Song Wenzhen pulled out her phone and waved it in front of him. "That's it? Seventeen minutes and fifteen seconds? You really need to improve your stamina," she scoffed.

Shang Yao's expression instantly darkened, and he snapped through gritted teeth, "Song Wenzhen!"

She casually put away her phone, replying lazily, "You invited me here to perform a live-action show, didn't you? What's wrong with me timing it? But back to the point, your performance was really not up to the mark."

She glanced at the woman inside the room with a peculiar expression, stating, "Not a bad act you've put on there. Good work."

Shang Yao seized her wrist, speaking harshly, "If you're so insatiable...only that wild man can satisfy you, right?"

Song Wenzhen looked into his fiery eyes, merely offering a smile. She didn’t wish to engage in this pointless quarrel any longer.

She had reiterated countless times - during her exchange year overseas, nothing inappropriate happened.

But in the past six months, he was acting like a lunatic, obsessively convinced that she had had an illicit affair.

Every day the headlines of major newspapers featured Shang Yao, the son of the affluent Shang family, entwined with different celebrities and models in hotels all night long.

Today was supposed to be their wedding day.

Shang Yao only postponed the date and then invited her to their new house, claiming he had a big surprise for her.

The surprise was indeed huge - it took up multiple gigabytes on the hard drive.

Shang Yao’s accusations continued, “You acted high and mightily in front of me, as pure as ice and jade, unapproachable. I’d felt like I was defiling you whenever I so much as touched you, yet you were fooling around with other men overseas!”

Song Wen Zhan blandly responded, “Let’s break off our engagement.”

When hearing this, Shang Yao froze for a moment, his handsome face twisted with bitterness and crazed laughter, “You think you can completely rid of me? With your dreams! Song Wen Zhan, I will never break off our engagement in this lifetime. You should enjoy everything that comes with being my fiancée. This is the price you pay for betraying me!”

Song Wen Zhan didn’t bother to argue with him. She quietly slipped out her hand from his and turned to leave.

After four years of love, Shang Yao didn’t show her any trust or respect.

It was all just a cruel joke. She left their wedding room and went straight to the theatre.

Tonight was Tang Tang's first time performing as the female lead on stage. She felt obliged to show her support.

However, it was rush hour. The streets were crowded and every step was delayed.

Between the traffic and the congestion, Song Wen Zhan went from feeling irritated to completely drained.

Just as she rested her hand on the car window, staring blankly at the scene outside, she saw a kid struggling to climb over a roadside barrier.

Traffic was heavy around them, and he was trying to do this dangerous act without a single adult in sight.

Song Wen Zhan quickly pulled up the handbrake and walked over, lifting a child by the clothes and placing them on the side of the road. He scolded softly, "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

The little boy in front of him had soft black hair, cute and perfectly carved facial features, and a pair of bright eyes.

Being scolded, he sniffled his reddened nose, looking somewhat wronged, "I just want to find my dad..."

Only then did Song Wen Zhan realize, this child must have gotten lost.

Watching this pitiful scene, Song Wen Zhan paused for a moment, feeling an indescribable tingle in his heart, and reined in his temper.

He squatted down in front of the boy, casually ruffling his hair, and softened his tone, "Boys are not allowed to cry. Tell your elder brother, where did you get separated from your dad?"

The little boy, clutching his clothes, had his mouth pouted high, "I came out with my cousin. He is kissing other sisters and won't play with me..."

Song Wen Zhan showed a disgusted look. Just what kind of junk cousin did he have?

He took out his phone and asked, "Do you remember your dad's phone number?"

"I do, but Uncle Chen said, I cannot tell other girls my dad’s number, especially to pretty girls."

Song Wen Zhan: "..."

This entire family is bizarre.

Well, he should just report it to the police.

Before Song Wen Zhan could dial the pre-entered number, a series of furious honking erupted from behind.

As he turned to look, the road that had been blocked just a while ago had cleared, and his parked car had become the new culprit of congestion.

Song Wenzhan was about to go, but felt her hand loosen.

The little boy had just grabbed her finger, looking at her with hopeful eyes, as if he was afraid she would leave him here and pay no heed to him.

Song Wenzhan calculated quickly in her heart. Even if she called the police now, it would take some time for them to arrive. The play was about to begin, and she didn't have time to wait here.

Moreover, even if she went to move her car now, she would not feel secure leaving this little one here on his own.

Two seconds later, Song Wenzhan pulled out her phone and pointed the camera at the boy, quickly saying, "Come on, say to me: 'This beautiful and kind-hearted sister picked me up on the street, but she has urgent matters to attend to, so she can only take me to the police station later'."

The child looked at her with his large, twinkling eyes, tilting his head slightly.

He was rather adorable.

...

On the road, as Song Wenzhan was driving, Tang Tang's voice came through the hands-free speaker of the phone at her side, "How much longer will you be? I'm about to go on stage and I'm getting terribly nervous!"

Song Wenzhan replied, "It'll be another ten minutes. I'll get there soon."

Trying to distract himself from the pressure, Tang Tang changed the subject, "What did that jerk ask you to come for today? Don't tell me he begged for your forgiveness?"

Song Wenzhan glanced at the boy in the passenger seat. She didn't allow any foul language to leave her lips and simply replied calmly, "You're overthinking it. He just put on a live-action show, that's all."

Tang Tang had a pretty good guess as to what the live-action show was about, and she clucked her tongue, "That bastard isn't afraid of dying from overexertion, one day he will drop dead..."

Song Wenzhan coughed to interrupt her, "Okay, enough talking, you go get ready. I'll be there in a short while."

After hanging up the call, Song Wenzhan continued driving.

Beside her, Shang Yanyan, who was brimming with curiosity, swung her little leg and asked, "Sister, what does it mean to 'die from overexertion'?"

Song Wenzhan, without changing her expression, said seriously, "It simply means a person's energy is finite. If they don't rest properly, it will lead to an untimely death."

Furrowing her eyebrows, Shang Yanyan looked worried, "My dad works so hard every day. Is he also at risk of dying from overexertion?"
