Introduction
My parents' medical bills are astronomical, forcing me to sign a contract and agree to marry into a wealthy family. But on my wedding day, there was no banquet, no guests, and no groom. What's going on? My new husband Ashton's beloved committed suicide? I sat in the opulent, yet cold and empty mansion, my mind a blank slate. "From the moment you signed the marriage contract, you were marked as a sinner. You killed her. If you dare to shatter my happiness, I'll shatter you. If I don't send you to hell, I'm not Ashton!" My husband placed all his hatred on me. Sarcasm? Torture? How could those compare to the life I'm living? Despite my kindness, I bore all the blame and became his scapegoat bride. "You want to sell yourself for a million? I'll make sure you understand the meaning of that price!" Ashton's low, chilly voice echoed in the dark room. "From now on, she is the lowest maid in the Wellington family. No one is to interfere in her chores. Anyone who dares to help her will be dismissed immediately!" But why, when he saw me crying so desperately, did he feel a heart-wrenching pain?

Amber Gold stood in the middle of the hall in a white wedding dress. Her cold eyes scanning her unfamiliar surroundings that made her feel completely out of place. The corners of her rosy lips were slightly raised, showing a self-mocking smile, processing the shock of her current situation.

A gust of cold wind poured in from the door behind her, blowing away the only warmth on her body. The only two loose strands of curly hair hanging down along her face were blown slightly forward caressing her cheeks.

Hot tears burst out of her eyes and finally started flowing down her face leaving tear stains as it slid along her smooth cheeks into her mouth and leaving behind a bitter salty taste.

It was said that the most beautiful moment in a woman's life was the special day when she was dressed in pearly white wedding dress walking down the isle to the man of her dreams. But today, no one appreciated her beauty or classy demeaner nor where they concerned of her forever happy ending.

Her beautiful face was covered with tears of grievance. She looked around helplessly with a hint of vulnerability in her eyes. Everything around her was so empty and cold, and she could not feel any sense of life around her. At this moment, the solemn statue of God seemed to have turned into a devil and laughed wildly looking down on her from above.

"Ah!!!" Amber put her fair and slender fingers into her pulling in frustration causing a sharp sting of pain run through her scalp. There was no wedding reception nor guests, not even her groom made an appearance at their wedding. There was nothing to make her special day mean anything but loneliness and abandonment except for the cold air running down her spine leaving a trail of chills caressing her skin.

Although she had expected this result, she couldn't help but feel sad and abandoned in the face of an empty church. Her little self-esteem she had left couldn't help being hurt.

The man who she had never met before supposedly her groom to be could not have been any more ruthless to her. If he didn't marry her or attend their wedding, would he threaten her or warn her?

Amber looked up at the statue with red and swollen eyes and cried defeatedly, "Is it my fault? I just want to save my parents. Why did he insult me like this, abandoning me at our wedding? Why?"

Amber fell feebly to the ground and buried her head deeply in the palms of her hands, sobbing uncontrollably.

Suddenly, a pair of black shoes appeared in her line of sight between her fingers covering her face.

Amber looked up in horror with her red eyes and tear stained cheeks, only to meet the man looking down at her. Amber froze on the spot out of sheer Shock not sure what to expect, but to her surprise she saw the most handsome and alluring man she has ever laid eyes on. However her shock of endearment soon changed into sock of fear as she couldn't help shiver at the mere sight of his gaze on her. His handsome and alluring face had a stoic expression with his piercing blue eyes gazing down on her.

The man squatted elegantly down to her on the floor, raised his slender fingers to pinch Amber's chin, and stared at her playfully. When he saw her frightened and pitiful eyes, a trace of anger suddenly flashed in the man's eyes, and he couldn't help but increase the strength in his hands.

Amber cried out in pain. "Who are you? Why are you here? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Amber Gold, how dare you stand here? If I were you, I would have run for my life long ago. I would never stand here and wait for death like a fool!" The man's cold voice rang out in the cold church like a ghost. Amber shivered at his cold and brutal words leaving her completely puzzled and fearing for what is to happen next.
