Green City.
In the Fu Mansion.
Inside the CEO's office.
Fu Suzhi was bent over his desk, his hand racing to sign his name on a pile of documents. Thanks to his years-long habit of seldom smiling, his handsome features were somewhat hardened.
He radiated an intimidating aura, telling others to keep their distance.
His concentration was broken by the ring of his cell phone. Fu Suzhi looked at the screen for three seconds before picking up the call.
"What is it?"
Two cold words slipped from his mouth, devoid of emotion.
Su Zhaozhao, on the other side of the line, hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "Big brother, Xingxing has come back. She's at the cemetery south of the city."
The line went silent on the other end. Just when Su Zhaozhao was about to speak again, all she could hear was the beeping sound indicating the call had been ended.
The air pressure in the CEO's office dropped once more. With a snap, the steel pen in his hand was broken, tearing a line across the paper.
Stars shimmered in his deep, impenetrable gaze. The surge of emotions fled in an instant, transformed into calm.
A voiceless name slipped from his cold lips: "Bei Fanxing."
After three long years, you've finally returned.
At the entrance of the cemetery south of the city.
Bei Fanxing turned around again, glancing back one last time at the solitary tombstone not far away, her heart sinking deeper and deeper. Then, reluctantly, she lifted her feet and left.
With a heavy heart, she kept her head down while walking. As she crossed the intersection, a car sped towards her. Just in the nick of time, a burst of forceful energy tugged her back. She felt a tight grasp around her waist, enclosing her within the strong, masculine arm.
"Bei Fanxing, are you freaking blind?"
Surprised and scared, an all too familiar cold voice echoed in her ears. Bei Fanxing’s eyes flashed with turmoil, from fear to acceptance, before finally settling into calm.
She turned around, freeing herself from his grip. Looking at the man before her, she pulled a smile on her lips, replying nonchalantly, “Whether I'm blind is my concern, what's it to you?”
Fu Sui, in his tailored suit, stood tall and hale. His gaze was icy, and his handsome face expressed a detached cruelty. He had an aura that inspired trepidation in others - a fear that would make them want to retreat.
"Keep being blind, and you’ll be roadkill."
This damn woman, infuriating him as soon as she appears, even more so than she had three years ago.
Bei Fanxing didn’t want lengthy explanations. She turned to leave but Fu Sui grabbed onto her arm forcefully.
"What's the matter? I save you, and you can’t thank me?"
Bei Fanxing remained silent, manifesting her intent to ignore Fu Sui. His anger only grew upon being ignored.
"To think you'd dare to come back. I thought you were never going to return in this lifetime."
"Dare? Why wouldn’t I dare?"
Bei Fanxing responded callously trying to shrug off his hand, but Fu Sui just tightened his grip around her arm.
"Do you really dare, Bei Fanxing? After not seeing you for three years, perhaps I should remind you... how you welcomed my touch beneath me..."
"Shut up, you shameless scoundrel!"
Bei Fanxing's fair face was suddenly flushed with a pink hue, whether out of embarrassment or anger was hard to tell. Her moist eyes filled with rage and defiance, she fearlessly stood her ground against the shameless man before her.
"Even if I shut up, it won't change the fact that you were once my woman! Bei Fanxing, you’ve avoided me for three years. That should’ve been long enough. It's time to repay what you owe me."
