Chapter 1: The Red Serpent
Feng Wei opened her eyes, cautiously scanning her surroundings. The light was dim and the silence was somewhat eerie.
Where was this place?
She tried to get up, only to discover she was securely tied!
Could it be that, she hadn’t died? Was she kidnapped?
She remembered she was on a mission. An unknown shell had accidentally hit her head, and she couldn’t recall anything after that.
She had said this mission wasn’t suitable for her. It was not only taking the lives of criminals but also retrieving an ancient red jade from them — a difficult task indeed.
And now, she had messed it up. She wondered what the organization was thinking, to assign her this mission.
Feng Wei, an unpredictable force in the hitman world, had a peculiar style and successfully turned crises into peace even amidst absurdities. Her missions often seemed like child's play.
Though, she had never failed a mission. Even when bizarre incidents occurred halfway, she always managed to overcome the difficulties.
On this occasion, Feng Wei reckoned, she was lucky to be alive, albeit being confined.
With this in mind, she took a couple of deep, carefree breaths and stopped worrying.
She mustered all her strength against the wall behind her to sit up.
Then, she strained herself to untie the tight knot on her wrist.
Feng Wei slumped against the wall, exclaiming, "They tied it too tight." She shook her swollen hand.
However, at that second, her gaze fell on her own clothes. She sprang up from the ground and pulled at the bright red wedding gown she was wearing, "Is this kidnapper that much of a pervert? What am I wearing? Is this some kind of role-playing game?"
Just as she was about to strip off the cumbersome robe, a sudden piercing pain shot through her brain!
"Ah...," Unable to bear the pain, she let out a yell!
She squatted on the ground, clutching her massively pounding head in agony!
"You must avenge me..." A voice filled with hatred and determination hovered and echoed in her temples and underneath her pituitary gland.
Meanwhile, unfamiliar images flashed in her mind as non-native memories flooded in like a sudden tsunami. The extreme pain felt as if her head was being torn apart, was unbearable.
About fifteen minutes later, she collapsed weakly on the ground. She finally understood, that the original her was dead.
The 'her' now, was called Bai Fengwei, the legitimate daughter of the Bai family in the Fenglin Kingdom of the Qingfeng Continent!
And Bai Fengwei's death was both painful and suffocatingly desperate!
She was orphaned at a young age, suffering constant bullying and difficulties within the Bai family!
When she was ten years old, after verification, she was found to be devoid of any spirit veins, a complete waste who could not cultivate.
From then on, her life became even more challenging, as simply surviving was a huge demand for her!
However, life is not sympathetic to the weak, as it could always be worse!
It was just a while ago!
First, she was unreasonably broken off by the crown prince, making her lose face and become the laughingstock of the whole city.
Then, she was sent to this tomb of the dead by her own cousin and the Crown Prince!
They pleasant named it, "burial with the dead".
Wait, burial with the dead?
Bai Fengwei startled, looking around her.
All around her were large, flat stones, a stone gate on the left, and a passageway on the right.
Did that mean she was inside a tomb now?
Damn it, what kind of insane transition is this?!
She had never seen such a miserable transmigrator.
She might be good at killing, but grave robbing was not her specialty!
Most importantly, how was she going to get out?
Apparently, tombs of this caliber had no doors that could be opened.
Once the door was shut, it would never open again!
Plus, she didn’t know how to dig a tunnel!
God, who could come and save her? Little brother, Wuxie, Third Uncle…
Bai Fengwei was on the verge of mental breakdown - the surroundings were terrifying. Luckily, she didn't suffer from claustrophobia, or she'd have suffocated long ago!
Gradually, the silence, the oppression, and the invisible fear engulfed her!
Every minute, every second was absolute torment for her!
If the body she was inhabiting had some level of cultivation, she might have been able to devise some kind of plan. But what drove her to complete despair was that she had no cultivation at all. There was no difference between her and an ordinary person!
While she was still working on steadying her mental state, on the other side of the tomb, there was a red serpent, with long white horns, slithering through every corner of the tomb.
Mysterious, evil, radiating a strong sense of oppression.
It seemed to be searching for something!
