"This is bad! She's struggling! They're in danger!" a nurse cried out.
"Quick! Go and inform Mr. Mccormick!" another nurse ordered.
Christie Summers was lying on the surgical bed in a brightly lit operating theatre, her abdomen raised and swollen. Large quantities of blood were soaking the bed sheet underneath her body.
She lay on the operating bed in despair, her eyes full of desolation.
That morning, she heard a rumor that Waverly Nicholson was her husband Lonnie Mccormick's mistress. She was so upset that she had gone to confront Waverly right away.
And the mistress actually admitted to it right in her face!
For a moment, Christie was about to slap Waverly, but that b*tch shoved her to the ground instead. To make matters worse, when Lonnie rushed over, Waverly suddenly fell to the ground sobbing, claiming that Christie was the one who pushed her!
Her husband even questioned her the same thing before he knew the truth!
She wept and explained to Lonnie, but he refused to believe her. In the end, he left her lying on the ground, suddenly overcome with pain, while he held Waverly in his arms.
Obviously, Christie was also lying on the ground.
Yet, she was carrying his children in her belly! She could only endure the pain and call an ambulance to pick her up.
When she thought of this, Christie shut her eyes bitterly.
"Ma'am, we can't get in touch with your husband," the nurse explained. "I'm afraid the baby is..."
Christie was so hurt that she could barely breathe.
"No! Don't!" she shrieked.
It was her child for crying out loud!
She had anticipated giving birth to his child, full of hope and love, the whole time. She must protect her baby.
Christie clutched the sheets tightly as her body tensed up. Her voice was hoarse as she choked out, "No, please. I want it alive!"
Whoosh!
The door to the operating theater suddenly swung open.
Several men in black rushed in and drove the doctors and nurses out. Then, followed by the clacking of her high heels, Waverly appeared at the door.
She folded her arms in front of her chest and looked disdainfully at Christie, who was in a pitiful state.
"Tsk, how pitiful. Christie, do you really think Lonnie really cares about the test tube child in your belly?"
Christie's gaze trembled slightly as she glared at Waverly. "What are you doing here?"
Waverly proudly answered, "I'm here to see you make a fool of yourself!"
Christine shuddered. "What do you mean?"
Waverly burst into prideful laughter. "Waverly burst into a prideful laughter. "Why do you think Lonnie wanted to marry you? He didn't even touch you, but had a test-tube baby instead."
"Lonnie and I were engaged from a very young age! We even had a romantic relationship during our teenage years. He loved me deeply. By that time I was flirting with another man. He only married you to make me angry."
Christie's eyes were filled with shock. "Impossible!"
"Heh! Now that things have come to this, do you still want to lie to yourself?" Waverly leaned over and grabbed Christie's hair.
"He's sleeping so soundly in the hotel right now. He was really fierce last night. You probably don't know how good your husband is in bed. We did it several times last night, and he's still resting. He doesn't want anyone to disturb our private time together, so he turned off his phone. Christie, I came here to visit you out of goodwill."
Waverly continued, “On, by the way. he said he doesn’t want your child by the ear.”
Christie bit her lips as her body convulsed. "No! That's impossible. You're lying to me!"
Christie looked up in a daze. Her gaze was blank, with tears falling down her cheeks miserably.
When she and Lonnie were growing up together, she had fallen in love with him at first sight.
But she never dared to express her feelings.
It was merely because he was the heir apparent of the Mccormick family, and she was a nameless abandoned daughter the family servants had dug out of a dirt pit!
She had a humble background and a huge sickly spot on her face, which was hideous to look at. In front of Lonnie, she never dared to raise her head to look him in the eye.
However, in spite of her inferior and cowardly self, she had married Lonnie a year ago.
She would never forget the day when Lonnie had suddenly found her and asked if she was willing to be his wife.
She happily said yes.
At the wedding, she had looked at the dazzling bouquets surrounding her and felt that it was all so unreal.
It was such a sweet dream for a lowly woman to join a rich and powerful family.
Just as they had exchanged rings, he had suddenly uttered, "Christie Summers, you can be Mrs. Mccormick, but I'll never love you."
She had always thought that as long as she was gentle and considerate enough, one day, she would be able to warm his cold heart.
But right then, he didn't even care about her difficult childbirth in the hospital, even though she's carrying his child.
"Christie Summers. Let’s have a bet! I will testify what I said is true. Who lose, who go to h*ll!"
Christie stared blankly at the surgical lights above her head. She was like a puppet that had lost its soul. Her eyes were devoid of life.
Copious amounts of blood gushed out from her body.
Someone yelled, "Oh, dear! She's losing a lot of blood!"
