The Lethal Kiss
In life, there will always be that certain memories we keep on holding, reminising, and cherishing. It may be a small moment, or a big event which lead us to what we are right now. Those certain memories that were tied and wrapped in our hearts. And, those memories we tried so hard to preserve.
Life may be long for those who were suffering, in agony, and in sorrow. And, there are some creature beyond everyone's imagination that is living in a very long time.
Their facade does not change over the long period of time. They live and continue to evolve, adapting into their changing environment.
Beings that live by the time had mostly the most lonely life. They are the witness of the country's tragedy, the world's calamity, the survivors of the conflict of themselves, and the wrath from everyone.
Their lives were like a calm sea, no sudden splash of cheerful waves. It is just filled with silence and loneliness. Despite the power, the wealth, and the name they created themselves they still haven't given a chance to grip once again to the happiness they've been waiting.
"Mr. Montei, everyone is not at the conference room." I heard a woman in her early 30 uttered to a man who was then facing ahead.
"Miss, we'll gave you a call if ever." The woman infront of me said with a smile. I sighed in disappointment when they still gave me the same respond from the other company that I went first.
What a tiring life.
"Thank you," I replied and stood up. I was frowning as I walked away from the room. It's disappointing to get the same respond over and over again from the different company I went.
What an exhausted life to live!
I sighed heavily as I went out from the building. I was feeling too drain with everything. It's completely exhausting!
My phone rang and I mindlessly pressed the answer button as I put it near my ear.
"Hello?" I uttered with a weak tone.
"Hi, is this Ms. Samcn Arqueźon?"
"Yes, how may I help you?" I inquired.
"Well, I hope you're still in the building. My boss is asking for your presence infront of him," The man on the other line replied.
"Pardon?" I asked, confused.
"If you can keep up with him through your answer, there will be a big possibility for you to get hire as his secretary."
My eyes instantly widen in just a span of second with the message I did just receive! Could this be the payment of my perseverance?
"Hello? Are you still there?" The man implied that made me back from my reverie.
"Uh, yes. I am still at the building. Would you mind if I take few minutes to prepare myself?" I said as I was holding my breath. What the fuck, Sam?! Why the hell would you demand?!
There was a pause in the man's line before he responded.
"No, not at all. Take your time, we'll be waiting at the CEO's office." He replied. That made me sigh in relief.
"Thank you, It'll take a little time." I responded.
"Okay." The man replied and ended the call. My heart was beating damn fast with the thought of meeting the infamous Mr. Montei from the Montei Empire that was built by himself.
I was taking a breathing exercise to calm myself as I was taking steps towards the elevator. I lifted my arm, and I could see how my hands were trembling as I press the button of the CEO's floor.
My phone rang once again which made me jump in surprise. Damn it! My hands trembled more with the thought that it could probably the representative from the Montei Empire. I sighed in relief when it was Amber.
"Hello?" I answered. The other line was filled with buffled noise which made my forehead creased.
"Sam? Aren't you going home? Why? Are you having the final interview right now?" She excitedly asked.
"Kind'a?" I replied, hesitating.
"Huh? Kind'a?" She mimicked.
"Well, can we talk about it later? I need to calm myself first before the final interview. I'll tell you what happened after it." I replied and dropped the call.
The elevator opened and it revealed the hallway towards the CEO office. I could feel my knees trembling due to nervousness and excitement. I should do my best at this interview. This is the most luckiest offer that I got.
I knocked at the glass door when no one seemed to notice my presence. The desk person wasnt at his or her position, so I got no one to ask for.
After a moment the door swung open by the person who was inside of the room. The moment the door got fully open, my gaze settled at the guy with a fair complexion and chinky eyes. My lips went agape with the mere sight of the man.
"Hi, Ms. Samcn. I am Damon, the one who called you a while ago." He said as he directing me to step inside the room by his hand. I nervously nodded and took steps advance.
He gave me a faint smile before leading to the room where the final interview be held. I took a deep breath as I was trying to calm all my nerves.
I closed my eyes for a moment as I put airs at my cheeks, puffing it at both sides. Then, I released all the air and composed myself. That was when I noticed the man named Damon, looking at me as he was nodding.
I gave him some looks and when he noticed it, he gave me another faint smile.
"You'll be hired," he said as he tapped my shoulder. That made my cheeks burn. Damn it! You're here for work, Samcn! Stay straight ahead of your goals!
I nodded at him and smiled before I went in.I was still busy composing myself that made me unaware of someone's presence. I instantly gulped and stood straight the moment I met his eyes.
I felt like I was a fool by still standing, and unable to move. His stares were giving too much, and or intense emotion that made me stand still. I was feeling uncomfortable and flustered with his eyes.
"I miss you," he suddenly uttered with full of sincerity in his voice. That made me gulped and flustered more. "... so much." He added. "Serenity." He then uttered a name.
' With her, I have tranquility. With her everything is in place. She's Serenity. My Serenity in the chaotic vampire world. '
