Third pov

Ezra sat at center of her room reminiscing the moments in her now empty room. Her furniture had been taken out, All her belongings were packed and sealed away. She’d miss her room, this house, everything she’s leaving behind for she had lived here 19 years. She had no choice but to move out. The only thing she is grateful for is that she has her family by her side. They are moving with her. It was not because they didn’t want her to be independent but to make sure she was safe. They were afraid, they had all reasons to be afraid.

Ezra was a family-centered child, but she too was feeling guilty and unsure, dragging her family into this only made it more dangerous.

She had a hope that this moving out will surely take them back to the loving and happy family they were.

She sat there still, her loose chestnut hair fluttering in the cold breeze that came in through the open window. She held the sides of the blanket even more closely.

Ezra pov

We will be driving to our new house in a few hours, but I couldn’t stop myself from all the memories rushing up to me. Everything here had so many smiles and fun in them.

“Momma is calling you for dinner.” my brother, Emir came in, panting.

“I’ll come.” I replied. Still busy with my memories.

“Noo...she told me to nag you until you come down with me.” He said a tint of mischievousness.

That line was obviously a lie.

“Momma would never say something like that. You’re so terrible at lying.” I exclaimed and got up because I knew he wasn’t going to leave me here.

Emir was 10. Shy and quiet kid to the world but a naughty and talkative kid for his family. He was the little version of my dad. That same facial features, same black hair, almost the same personas.

I remember so vividly taking him in my arms for the first time. I was so proud to be a big sister then and even now.

I came down to the kitchen where there were only 4 counter stools left. Every cabinet had been emptied. Dad was cooking and momma was making tea. I came and sat down.

Richard Berenson and Rebecca Berenson, my parents had 3 kids. Erza, Emir and Ellie. After I was born and named, my mother caught the matching-siblings-names fever and that's how we got the names. Well, it sounds good though.

Ellie was just 3 years old. We can’t categorize her into anyone’s appearance as of now. At times Stubborn but cute-as-hell kid. Her 4 front tooth came in recently and she had learned the art of biting.

Even by mistake you take your fingers to anywhere near her mouth, you are done. She won’t let you loose. Only momma has the power to make her open her mouth and let your fingers live.

That’s my lovely family.

“You could have packed the blanket and worn that jacket or jumper. That blanket is literally swiping the floor.” my mom said

She was right, the blanket was too big and I was trying my best to keep them all around me and not leave it hanging.

“Momma, I’m already wearing a jacket.” I replied.

I’m cold intolerant. Well, to be honest I don't like cold weather, I like warm and sunny days. Warmth from that jacket and blanket was pure bliss.

“Alright then, let's finish our dinner and get going.” My dad informed.

We dug in and finished our dinner. Our furniture and boxes were shifted yesterday.

We started the trip, it was already 10 and the destination was a 6 hour drive.

Chatting for a while, giggles and whining filled the car. We are happy. For how long wasn’t even a question.

------------------

A loud thud, then came the scream.

There was blood streaming from a lady on the floor.

The hall was fully destroyed, painted red with blood. Ladies and gents in all fancy costumes enjoying themselves just a few minutes before were now lying dead.

I saw a man dressed in black attire running out of the exit.

The shock of seeing people drop dead had paralyzed me. But there was no one in the hall alive.

I got out of my hiding position and ran in the direction of the exit.

No being was there. He escaped.

Fear. sorrow. I didn't know what my emotion was then.

But one thing I knew, I had to find that man.

I ran through the stairs, no idea where it leads.

No one there.

Black engulfed me, now all I could see were guns, snipers and….blood.

I woke up sweating and feeling tired. It was brain, I had dozed off along our way.

we still haven't reached.

“How long?” I questioned momma who was now driving.

“You woke up?. Good. half an hour away.” Dad responded. Emir and Ellie had been asleep even before me.

I looked out through the window to refresh my mind from the horrifying memories.

it was dawn, the greyish tint of sky hung gracefully over us.

Tall trees covered both sides of the road and seemed like a never ending forest.

Movements in the woods naturally caught my attention.

Something was running with us. Some wild animals, it’s silhouette was visible from the newly sprouting rays. It was huge.

I looked with all of my will but the tall trees didn’t allow much rays to hit on the animal, also it was moving so fast, keeping it’s identity hidden.

I was always a curious little beast. So, I told momma to slow down a bit.

It was as if it was chasing us.

I strained my eyes.

And then it caught my eyes.
