"Ji Tian, I'm pregnant. I know you won't accept this, so I can only leave this world with our child."
The text message came in when Gu Qingge was sitting next to Mo Ji Tian.
Upon seeing this, Mo Ji Tian could no longer hold back. He fell to his knees and began to sob, "I'm sorry Qingge, Mo Mo is pregnant, and I can't abandon her."
Gu Qingge sat motionless, her face pale white.
"So?"
"Qingge, you're strong, and even without me, you can still stand on your own. But Mo Mo is not like you, she won't be able to make it without me."
As Mo Ji Tian stood up, he began to back away, "Qingge, Mo Mo really needs me."
"Mo Ji Tian," Gu Qingge stood straight, bit her lip, and declared solemnly, "Remember this, it's me who is rejecting you, not the other way around. If we ever get a chance to meet again, don't claim to know me."
"Alright, alright!" Mo Ji Tian turned around and ran out.
Tears fell from Gu Qingge's eyes. She then took out her phone and dialed a number while biting her lower lip, "Aunt Qiu, that proposal you mentioned, I accept."
The night was cool as water, and the darkness was as black as ink.
In the vast hotel room, only Gu Qingge was left. Fresh from bathing, she was only wearing a thin tank top nightdress. She sat down at the edge of the bed with a heavy heart.
Upon hearing that she accepted the marriage proposal, the Fu family of Jing City had immediately sent someone to buy her a plane ticket for the next morning. She had no choice but to rush to the hotel overnight and prepare to take the early morning flight.
Boom—
A burst of thunder flashed across the sky followed by a bolt of lightning, plunging the room into darkness.
The power is out!!
Simultaneously, the door was shoved open, and a tall, dark figure blurred in from outside.
Startled, Gu Qingge jumped up from the bed. What was going on? Had she forgotten to lock the door? Or were the hotel door locks just decorative?
"Don't make a sound!"
In the dark, the muzzle of a black gun was aimed directly at Gu Qingge's head.
For about three seconds she was frozen in shock. She quickly realized that what was pressed against her head was a gun, so much so that even her breathing seemed to become quieter by a few degrees.
From outside, scattered footsteps were getting closer and orders were discreetly issued, "He is injured and couldn't have gone far. Search room by room, we must find him."
"Yes, sir!"
As the footsteps approached closer, this was Gu Qingge’s first encounter with such a situation and cold sweat trickled down her forehead. She heard the man behind her whispering in her ear, "Do you know what to do when they come in here? Hmm?"
Gu Qingge nodded vaguely as if getting the message.
"Don't worry. If you dare betray me, you’ll be going down with me. Don’t doubt my ability, okay?"
Scared, Gu Qingge nodded vigorously. She was shivering all over. The man paused, puzzled, before he finally let her go. Once released, she quickly reached out to hold the nearby table, breathing heavily.
The man quickly found a place to hide, while Gu Qingge, clutching at the table to keep herself from falling, stood there in terror for a while. Finally, someone came knocking at the door. She didn't move, the thought of people outside wielding guns with no hesitation scared her enough to make a run for it.
"Do you want to die?" A cold voice came from behind her, startling her to the point where she broke into a cold sweat.
"No, I don't!" Gu Qingge shook her head. Biting her lower lip, she wiped away the cold sweat on her forehead, then dragged her feet to open the door.
Gu Qingge was adorably cute, but due to being malnourished over the years, she looked extraordinarily frail. Her complexion was abnormally pale, and her fear only made it whiter, as white as a ghost would be.
When she opened the door, the two men in black outside were taken aback by her appearance. One of them even stepped back, looking at her warily.
Her hands trembled, hidden behind the door. She gave the two men a pitiful glance, and asked, "Is, is there anything you need?"
"I ask you, have you seen a tall, imposing man!" The tall man standing by the door scrutinized her and then asked gruffly.
Upon hearing his words, Gu Qingge blinked and shook her head softly, "No, I haven’t. I’ve been, sleeping."
"Really?" The man obviously didn't believe her. He stepped forward, grasped her frail shoulders, and growled, "You've not seen him? Why do you stammer then? Your face is as white as a ghost! Is that man in your room?"
Gu Qingge was already very afraid, and his threat brought instant tears welling up in her eyes, trickling down her cheeks without warning. Her hands clung onto the man's arm, she stammered, "I, I'm afraid of thunder."
Swear to God, she was telling the truth.
"Afraid of thunder?" The man squinted his eyes, attempting to grab her. The other man who had stepped back earlier came forward to hold him, "Hey, Lao Liu, don't be so impulsive, don't scare the young lady."
The lower lip of Gu Qingge turned white from biting too hard. Her tears cascaded down, and she began to sob, emitting quiet cries.
She wore a tank top long dress and stood there sobbing with her shoulders shuddering, looking like an innocent middle schooler.
"Forget it, look at her, just a terrified cat. If she really saw him, wouldn't she tell us? Stop wasting time here or we'll be blamed if we can't find our guy."
"Hmph! Stop crying or I'll make you pay if you draw attention!"
Gu Qingge immediately stopped making noises but continued crying silently, wiping her tears pitifully.
"Let's go!"
After the two departed, Gu Qingge remained standing in place, sobbing. It took her quite a while to collect herself and retreat back to her room, closing the door behind her.
No sooner had she shut the door than she heard a cold huff in the darkness: "What a coward you are! Such a trivial matter managed to frighten you to tears!"
At that, she froze mid-step. While crying, she had forgotten the dangerous man still in the room.
The thought of the gun he had aimed at her head made Gu Qingge's legs weaken again.
"I...I..." Gu Qingge stammered, her gaze landing on the man's face in the dim light. The moonlight was too faint for her to see clearly, and she hastily closed her eyes again, standing still in fear.
"Come over here!" the man ordered.
"What?" Gu Qingge stalled, puzzled at why he wanted her to come closer. Out of respect for his authority, she reluctantly shuffled over in the darkness, directionless. Unaware of what tripped her, she stumbled forwards and fell.
When she landed, she felt pain, but before the tears could well up, she heard the man beneath her grunt, followed by him saying, "Damn it, what the hell are you doing?"
With a long face, Gu Qingge confessed, "I can't see where I'm going with my eyes closed."
The man drew in a sharp breath, "Why are your eyes closed?"
"I..." Gu Qingge was on the verge of tears again, "I'm scared to see your face...you're not going to let me off..."
With a subdued chuckle, the man was amused by her antics. Then, Gu Qingge felt her chin being pinned, following which the commanding voice of the man instructed her, "You think you can see me clearly in this dark room? Open your eyes!"
“No!” Gu Qingge dared not open her eyes, clutching them shut.
In the dimly-lit room, Gu Qingge lay motionless on top of him.
The man suddenly sneered, "Do you believe... if you continue laying on top of me, I might do something to you?"
The medicine inside his body seemed to be slowly taking effect, and this fearless little woman laid feebly on top of him. The faint scent of her freshly bathed body was intoxicating, pushing him to the brink of losing control over the searing desire welling up inside of him.
"What are you doing?" Gu Qingge asked, bewildered.
"What do you think?" His voice was husky as his heated palm suddenly skimmed her slender waist, scaring Gu Qingge into a scream as she simultaneously opened her eyes.
Regrettably, she couldn't see his face in the darkness. She could only feel the scorching heat radiating from his body.
Gu Qingge felt his burning palm moving on her waist, causing her to push him away in fright. "I was about to get up, stop... let me go!"
"It's too late!"
A flash of lightning streaked across the sky.
The man quickly flipped them over, pinning her underneath.
