In Room 306 of the Atlas Hotel, Deacon Abberton smirked in amusement as he heard the persistent knocking at the door. With only a towel wrapped around his waist, he sauntered over and swung the door open.
"Well, well, Chantria. Weren't you off to a secret rendezvous? Why the sudden change of plans?" Deacon's voice dripped with playful mockery.
"You jerk!" Chantria retorted, clearly annoyed as she tugged at her collar. She pointed to her chest and exclaimed, "Look at this!"
Deacon glanced down at the words he had scribbled with a marker, "Deacon Abberton was here," and erupted into laughter. "It was just a joke. Why are you getting all worked up? Maybe I can help you cool down?" With that, Deacon swiftly pulled Chantria into the room.
Chantria, understanding Deacon's intentions, feigned resistance. "What do you think you're doing? Didn't you just..."
Deacon interrupted her, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "To cool you down, of course!"
In the midst of their banter, Deacon playfully tossed Chantria onto the bed. Half an hour later, with a satisfied smile on her face, Chantria lay on Deacon's chest, her voice filled with coquetry. "Darling, you were amazing today!"
Deacon responded with a slight smile. "It's almost time. You should go."
Chantria playfully slapped his chest and teased, "Really? You're asking me to leave so soon after getting what you wanted?"
With a pinch on Deacon's waist and a playful complaint, she continued, "You little rascal. Good thing I found out early, or you would have been the death of me."
"Let's go to the Odyssey Hotel the day after tomorrow. This place is terrible and the walls are paper-thin."
Deacon glanced at her without giving a definite answer. "We'll see. I might not be free that day."
Chantria sat up, displaying a hint of dissatisfaction. "Men are all assholes. They never appreciate what they have."
"But that's alright. You're not the only man in my life," she added with a sly smile.
Chantria quickly got dressed, touched up her makeup, and sent a voice message in front of Deacon. "I'm so sorry, sweetie! I'll be there soon. Oh, by the way, don't forget to buy me the necklace I wanted the other day!"
Without looking back, she picked up her handbag and left the room. Deacon didn't mind at all. Chantria was his senior at Oakridge Institute, and the person she sent the voice message to was Kendric Addice, a manager at JM Investment Company in Oakridge. The thought of Kendric filled Deacon with hatred. It was this man who had caused Deacon to hit rock bottom in his past life, leading him to jump from a building.
"Kendric Addice! You'd never expect me to be sleeping with your girlfriend now!"
With a sense of satisfaction, Deacon promptly sent a message to Chantria. "See you at the Odyssey Hotel the day after tomorrow. Be there or be square!"
Chantria replied instantly. "Ok, I'll be waiting!"
Deacon smirked and put down his phone, contemplating his future plans. His goal was not just revenge on Kendric after being reborn. In his previous life, he had led an unsatisfactory existence, working a mundane job after graduation. However, this time he was reborn to a time over a decade ago. He knew what the next ten years held in store.
Deacon realized that the takeaway industry and real estate would flourish, creating numerous billionaires. But with only a hundred dollars to his name, he had nothing to work with. He pondered how to earn his first capital, knowing that it would be the key to purchasing properties and accumulating wealth. He already had an idea of the locations with great potential for real estate price increases.
With a dozen real estate properties, Deacon could live a carefree life, enjoying the spoils of his passive income. Starting a business and getting married were not priorities for him. He was determined to make the most of his rebirth and seize the opportunities that awaited him.
Excited by his newfound perspective, Deacon scrambled out of bed. In his previous life, he had missed out on many romantic encounters due to his timidity. This time, he vowed to let loose and have some fun. The ladies better watch out, because Deacon was coming for them!
After freshening up, Deacon checked out of the room at the Atlas Hotel. Since the school was nearby, he decided to walk, relishing the familiar yet thrilling sights around him. Being reborn had given him an entirely different outlook on everything.
As he stepped onto the campus he hadn't visited in a long time, Deacon shamelessly admired the pretty legs passing by, ignoring the disapproving glances he received. When he returned to his dorm, he found Dario Sagrott lying on the bed, engrossed in his phone. Dario's eyes lit up upon seeing Deacon, as if he had spotted a beautiful girl. With a mischievous grin, he gestured with two fingers and asked, "Deacon, got any smokes?"
In his previous life, Deacon would have refused to give a cigarette, but this time he tossed one to Dario without hesitation and lit one for himself. "Where have you been up to this morning, you goofball?"
Dario's comment annoyed Deacon, as it always did. The guy would be polite when he needed something, only to insult him right after. "I was hanging out with some chicks, of course!"
Dario exclaimed in admiration, "Damn, you're the man!"
While Dario lamented the injustice of his own love life, Deacon ignored him and casually turned on his computer. Suddenly, his eyes widened in shock as he read a message on the screen.
"May 24th, ApexOrigin Machinery had the highest increase rate of 7.8%."
He couldn't believe what he was seeing and glanced over at Dario's laptop. The date clearly displayed May 23rd. Confusion filled Deacon's mind as he asked Dario, "Can you check if the date on this news is the 24th?"
Dario, uninterested, lazily replied, "Quit bothering me. It's only the 23rd today. Where would you get news from the 24th? Did you exhaust yourself this morning?"
Deacon waved his phone in front of Dario. "Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself."
Dario, annoyed, closed his eyes dismissively. "Stop pestering me. This is clearly a weather report."
Deacon's heart raced as he cross-checked his phone and laptop repeatedly. He widened his eyes in astonishment because the time on the news matched the time on his phone. And he was certain that only he could see this information.
"Damn, this is absolutely incredible!"
