City H, international hotel banquet hall.
Deer walked out of the crowd and step by step, moved towards the bride and groom who were exchanging rings.
"What a lovely scene of a lover's bliss." She stood upright, lowering her voice, "If it weren't for the fact that the one getting married is my fiancé and my sister, I'd drop some tears for you in sympathy."
Hearing her voice, the bride suddenly removed her wedding veil from her face and shrieked, "Deer! How are you here?!"
"Why can't I be here?" Deer sneered, traces of mockery clamoring across her delicate features, "What's the matter? Afraid that I'd see you two shameful bastards looking so unprincipled?"
They must have never thought she would dare to come back. But Deer thought she had come back too late, six years too late.
"How dare you insult me!" The bride was fuming and with a raised hand, aimed to slap Deer's face.
Deer's gaze swiftly shifted, just about to dodge when she seemed to remember something and closed her eyes.
"Smack!"
The crisp sound of a slap echoed through the silent hall, leaving only the bride's heavy panting.
"Deer…" The previously fierce Deer suddenly softened, clutching her face with an incredulous look. Her eyes reddened, as if on the verge of crying.
"Ever since you and your mother stepped into my life, I felt like an orphan. If it wasn't for my grandfather's care, I wouldn't have even had any food to eat. How many times has your mother secretly hit me? Yet every time, you'd go complain, making dad punish me even more. You're stealing everything from me, now even my fiancé?"
Tears dripped from her eyes, landing on the floor. Despite making no sound, they left a bitter taste in the hearts of the onlookers.
"So what if he likes me more? It's your dead mother's fault for not making your dad like her!" Deer lashed out, grinding her teeth as though holding a giant grudge against Deer.
Upon hearing this, the crowd began to exchange glances. It was too late when Deer's father, who had hurried over, tried to stop her from speaking further. The vein on his forehead was throbbing, and he almost seemed to rush towards Deer.
"You disgraceful girl!" Di Father clutched his head in a daze, while Di Ranyan quickly stepped forward to support him.
Di Father, trembling, pointed at Di Lu's nose, "You shameless girl, ruining our family reputation! If you weren’t caught in a hotel room with a man, would we have married off your sister?"
Di Lu's gaze instantly turned icy.
Six years ago, they had plotted against her, drugged her, and sent her into a hotel, where she had a one-night stand with someone unknown. They used this incident to ruin her. If she hadn't been saved …
The hands hanging by her sides clenched, and Di Lu gritted her teeth.
Now they were turning the tables on her?
Before she could reply, Di Lu's stepmother ran out, covering her face with her hands, crying. She asked, like a compassionate mother, where she had been all these years, preventing her from speaking any further. Taking advantage of this, Di Father managed to escort all the guests out.
In no time, there were no outsiders left.
Di Father's headache ceased, and he straightened his back, "What are you trying to do?!"
Free from outsiders, Di Lu no longer had to pretend to be weak. She stared coldly at Di Father and calmly stated, "I have returned to claim what is mine.”
"Everything you have was given to you by the Di family! What else do you want to take?!" For the first time, Di Father genuinely seemed to have a headache. He stomped his foot and yelled. His greatest fear wasn't Di Lu's return, it was her claiming what belonged to her.
Di Lu knew his vulnerabilities and scoffed. "My grandfather left a will before he died. The one to inherit the company is me. I have returned to inherit the company."
"You, inherit what company?!" Before Di Father could speak, her stepmother shrieked, "The company is not yours, what have you done for the company to deserve that!?”
She had convinced Di Father that Di Ranyan should be the sole heir to the company. She didn't expect Di Lu to return at this moment, talking about inheriting the company. The duck ready to be cooked, how could she let it fly away?
"You dare to claim the company, see if I don't ruin your face!" The stepmother, only eyeing her personal interests, and in her agitation, wanted to repeat her old trick – preparing to slap Di Lu.
She had already cheered silently when Terry started to make her move just now. She didn’t think Bella would escape. She still thought Bella was the little girl who could only bear to be beaten.
But things were completely opposite of what she imagined. Bella just slightly turned her face aside, her hand quickly and accurately grasped her stepmother, and reversed a slap on her stepmother's face.
"This slap is for my mom."
Bella’s mother passed away when she was ten years old. She, who had been plagued by illness for a long time, held on until she was finally infuriated by Terry’s father to death. At that time, the stepmother was beside Terry's father, spouting a lot of words which agitated Bella’s mother so much she vomited blood before they stopped.
Bella witnessed all this with her own eyes. At that time, she was hidden in the cupboard. The stepmother's ugly face was something she has never forgotten.
Seeing that his favorite woman was beaten, Terry's father cursed in anger and was about to make a move when a low cough came from the side.
"Mr. Terry, you seem quite fired up."
Seeing the one who came, Terry's father turned pale.
Bella frowned and looked in the direction from where the sound was coming.
She saw a tall man wearing a high-collared gray-checkered suit slowly approaching. His features were handsome and there was a touch of arrogance between his eyebrows. His profound eyes were unpredictable making it hard to guess what he was thinking.
While Bella was sizing up Jason, Jason was also sizing up Bella.
He was invited here but didn't want to talk to people. He found a quiet place to laze about. Bella's face change had just caught his eye, and he found this petite woman, who pretended to be weak, extremely interesting.
"Mr. Jason, you...Why are you here..." Terry's father stuttered not knowing how to explain. He wished he could slap himself. If he knew earlier, he would have forcibly taken Bella home.
Jason, however, appeared indifferent, calmly sat down on a chair nearby, "I didn’t expect Mr. Terry's family affairs to be this lively. Please do not hesitate, continue, pretend I'm not here."
With his enjoyment in watching the scene, Terry's father was wary of him. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but could not.
Father Di remains silent, but Deer Di still has unfinished business.
Without caring about Ning Jiuge's presence, she raises her hand and claps a few times, and almost as soon as the clapping echoes fade, the gilt door is pushed open from the outside. A group of people dressed in black swiftly enter. Each one of them wears a stern expression, their eyes icy cold.
Once they enter, the men in black quickly disperse, standing at attention on both sides, silent as they look towards Deer Di.
Ning Jiuge's eyebrows arch in surprise, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards, almost imperceptibly.
Just what are they planning with such a show of force?
