Shi Group.
The Shi Corporation, monopolizing the economic apex, has gained even more momentum over the years. The economic growth is no secret to anyone.
In the high-end fashionable office, Le Shanshan can hardly believe she has a place, being a mere intern.
However, Le Shanshan remains quite unknown in the company. The burden of being an intern is undeniably tense.
"Shanshan, this file is needed by Director Cheng. Hurry and deliver it to the conference room."
Editor Liu, glancing at Le Shanshan who's next to him compiling notes from today's interview, calls out to her.
"Oh, okay."
Upon hearing Editor Liu's request, Le Shanshan's hands, which were typing away on the keyboard, stop.
Being interrupted while drafting is never a pleasant experience for an editor.
Nonetheless, Le Shanshan can't refuse. After all, she has to make money for her brother, Le Chen's living expenses abroad so he can have less pressure and live better.
Although she isn't a contracted employee yet, the pay at Shi Corp is quite substantial. For the siblings, this income is extremely crucial.
Standing up, she grabs the folder and makes her way upstairs.
Shi Corp is extremely wealthy. Those who manage to get in are either rich, noble, or highly capable.
The Le Shanshan of the past would never have sold out her principles for any fame or gain, but people change after undergoing certain experiences.
Now, she strives for survival, to vent all the sufferings she endured under her stepmother Liang's hand, and to finally release all the pent-up resentment.
Even so, this is the time clan.
Laughing and handing over her folder at the elevator, Laughing Shanshan swiftly walked on the high-rise grey carpet, filled with corners, in absolute silence.
She was in a hurry, hurrying to write an article.
She turned around a pilea plants zone and was faced with two long-haired beauties from the marketing department walking towards her.
"If I had known the Second Young Master was so handsome, why would I ever have gone to the sales department? It would have been better to stay in the editorial department!"
"Isn't it? Sigh, we really missed out."
Shan Shan was not a lover of gossip, but coincidentally these two sentences entered her ears, causing some disturbance in her mind.
She arrived at the entrance of the conference room, first adjusting her appearance before reaching out to knock on the door.
After gaining permission, Laughing Shanshan finally pushed the door and entered. The large office was empty except for Lee, the chief editor of the editorial department, sitting in the head chair with an air of commanding authority.
Chief Editor Lee was usually kind, often speaking softly to the little ladies in the department. Despite this, Laughing Shanshan always considered him to be somewhat overly flamboyant.
A man in his forties, who lacked any sense of maturity and seriousness, was smooth-talking and behaved dishonorably in private.
"Shan Shan."
Upon seeing that Shan Shan was the one delivering the files, a gentle smile appeared on the face of Chief Editor Lee. He extended his hand to Shan Shan.
Laughing Shanshan, wearing high heels, walked gracefully with long, shapely legs and placed the folder in her hands on Chief Editor Lee's desk.
"Chief Editor Lee, here are the files Director Cheng requested. Where is he?"
Editor Li scanned Le Shan Shan from top to bottom, saying, "Shan Shan, I remember you are an intern. You've had a tough time here, haven't you?"
These words struck a chord in Le Shan Shan's heart. Slightly moved, she replied, "Yes, Editor."
"Ah, forget about the 'editor' part, just call me Li Li."
As he spoke, Editor Li's hand glided towards the folder, brushing the back of Le Shan Shan's hand in the process.
A dark shadow crossed the respectful face of Le Shan Shan. She often kept a low profile and never portrayed herself as something she wasn't. But that didn't mean she was someone to be taken for granted.
By then, noticing that Le Shan Shan had frozen in place and fearing her resistance, Editor Li bravely spoke, "Shan Shan, even though you're an intern, it doesn't mean you're unaware of our company's workplace etiquette. It may look like I'm merely part of the editorial department, but it was me who helped those managers in the HR and sales department to their positions."
At this point, Li Li retracted his hand and continued, "If you listen to me and accompany me, you will be the deputy manager of the editorial department next month. What I say is what I mean..."
"Slap!"
Before Li Li could finish, a swift, unanticipated slap landed on his right cheek.
Probably no one at this base level of the company ever had the audacity to slap him in the face. Li Li was stunned for a few seconds before he jumped up from his chair.
With one hand covering his face and the other pointing at Le Shan Shan, he retorted angrily, "You ungrateful girl! I bet you don't want to work here anymore!"
Le Shan Shan wished she could chop off the hand that Li Li had touched. Freeing her hand, she waved it in front of Li Li, firing back, “With your ability to call the shots, why are you just the chief editor? Are the company seniors aware of you harassing female staff?"
Confronted by Le Shan Shan's question, Editor Li averted his gaze. "Nonsense, you'll see how I deal with you today!”
With that, he threw a punch at Le Shan Shan. Unable to dodge, she felt a gust pass her ear, but then another person appeared in front of her.
Looking up, it turned out to be Director Cheng, Cheng Muyang.
"Director Cheng?"
Li Li lost his color in fright, quickly took a few steps back, and his legs weakened when he saw the man in black standing behind Cheng Muyang.
Cheng Muyang turned his head, checked Le Shanshan up and down, and asked anxiously, "Are you okay?"
Le Shanshan's tightly held heart relaxed, very glad that the shock she had experienced was without any real danger.
Looking at Cheng Muyang, Le Shanshan smiled, indicating that she was fine.
Ever since she came to Shi's company, the first person she met was Cheng Muyang. He took good care of her, and Le Shanshan truly didn't know when she could find time to invite him for meals as a token of gratitude.
Cheng Muyang looked at the man behind Le Shanshan and said, "Mr. President, this is Li Li, the editor-in-chief of the editorial department."
The man behind her had cold eyes. He had stood outside the door for so long and didn't expect there to be such a sincere woman in an insignificant editorial Department.
However, there are no words like "show mercy" in my dictionary. This is considered as making trouble on my territory.
"Notify the finance department to settle his salary. I don't want to see him at Shi's company after an hour."
Mu Yanfan, who came back to China this time, was fully prepared. No matter in the Shi family or the Shi corporation, he was determined to assert his dominance, not for anyone else, but for himself.
"Shanshan, I'm glad you're okay. Let's have dinner together after work. It's settled. You can’t stood me up again!"
After saying this, Cheng Muyang directly picked up the phone and left the conference room.
Mu Yanfan was shocked when he heard the name "Shanshan".
Le Shan Shan turned around, her gaze happening to fall on Mu Yan Fan, who was just a few meters away from her. She stared blankly at the man in front of her.
She would never have imagined that she and Mu Yan Fan would encounter each other in such a situation.
Looking at the face in front of her, a face that seemed favored by time, it was the first time Le Shan Shan felt like it was deep winter in August, chilling to the bone.
Seven years. Seven years ago, when she was at her most painful, this man abandoned her and walked away, as if he had evaporated from the face of the earth.
With a humble heart, she desperately called him, texted him, only hoping to hear from him that all this was not true. That he hadn't gotten engaged to anyone else, that he wasn't going to marry another woman. He had just gone to join the army, if she could just wait for him for two more years, he would return.
But in the end...
"Shan Shan?"
Mu Yan Fan’s eyes softened slightly. However, the moment he called out Le Shan Shan's name, Le Shan Shan retreated several steps back.
