In Faellac Town. On a stormy and rainy midnight.
Heidi Snyder knelt at the gate of the Snyder residence, her slender body quivering as she was soaked to the bone.
"Ms. Snyder, you'd better leave. It's getting late now, Mr. Snyder won't come out to see you!" Samuel Cabell, the butler, came to the gate with an umbrella and persuaded her kindly.
The wind blew harder. Heidi's pale face looked weaker under the lightning and thunder, yet there was a stubbornness in her words.
"Samuel, leave me alone. I must get the money today to save my mother's life!" Heidi said.
Her mother was found to suffer from a serious illness after she did her physical examination, which would cost her a large sum of money to treat.
Were it not for the money to save her mother, Heidi would never step into the Snyder residence, let alone kneel at the gate and beg for help from a heartless man!
Samuel shook his head helplessly when he saw that Heidi was too stubborn to accept his advice, so he sighed and went back into the house.
This lady was as stubborn as her mother! She would definitely have a hard time this evening!
The rain drenched her body ruthlessly, making her look like a fragile doll, yet she kept her back straight.
A dazzling car light lit up in the distance and the car drove in her direction. Heidi squinted her eyes and looked back when she heard the noise. Her eyes widened up in horror, then she dodged!
But the car was barrelling in her direction!
Heidi rolled on the ground in a panic to avoid being hit by the car. Then, she got up from the slippery ground.
Screeeeeech.
The high-pitched noises roared through the chaotic rainy night.
"Oh, it's Heidi. I'm sorry. It's dark and rainy outside. I can't see the road clearly. Are you okay?" Someone asked, the voice dripping with sarcasm.
Heidi got up with a stony face, she stared icily at the woman who got out of the car.
The woman wore a delicate black sling dress and a pair of 5-inch tall crystal high heels. She held a black umbrella in her hand, and he looked gorgeous with a sweet smile on her face.
It was a pity for a woman who had a pretty and innocent face to be such an abominable person!
"Tiana Snyder?" Heidi lowered her voice and said icily, "There's no stranger here. Who are you trying to show your hypocritical look to?"
It was ridiculous that the child raised by the mistress of her father, Timothy Snyder, was one year older than her, although her mother was his legitimate wife!
What an irony it was!
"You!" Tiana's gorgeous face scowled in an instant.
However, she thought of something and became arrogant immediately.
"You're bluffing. Keep in mind that you and your old hag of a mother were long kicked out of the Snyder Family. Now, I'm the only daughter of the family, and you're just a poor thing!"
Heidi seemed to be calm although she was actually hurt by Tiana's words.
"You're just a daughter of a mistress, how dare you call yourself a legitimate daughter of the Snyder Family?" Heidi said as she took a step closer to Tiana.
"You!" Tiana was bursting in anger, she raised her hand and was about to slap Heidi's face. But Heidi grabbed her wrist immediately, rendering her unable to move.
Tiana gritted her teeth and her whole body was trembling. At the same time, she caught sight of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye. So she immediately feigned weakness with a painful look on her face. She leaned backward and fell to the ground harshly as her umbrella slipped out of her hand.
"Ah! Heidi, my sister! I'm here to put up an umbrella for you. Why are you pushing me?"
Heidi noticed something was wrong, but her shoulder was grabbed by someone hard before she could react.
"You evil girl!"
Timothy rebuked Heidi in anger, he blew his stack when he saw his eldest daughter who fell to the ground, pitifully drenched in the rain.
Pat!
Heidi was slapped to the ground and fell into the puddle awkwardly. She felt a burning pain on her face and she had tinnitus. She could not hear what Timothy was scolding.
She could not imagine how strongly her father hated her that made him beat her so harshly!
Heidi looked up at Timothy who was in a rage, and her last hopes crumbled to dust.
He did not care that she had knelt at the door and was caught in the rain for almost two hours.
But he slapped her in the face the moment he saw Tiana fall to the ground.
"Humph! Father? Sister? They are unqualified to be my elders," thought Heidi.
"Tiana, are you alright?" Timothy helped Tiana up with his face full of worry. Then, he took off his coat and draped it over her shoulder.
Tiana pretended to be shivering from the cold, and pathetically leaned into Timothy's arms.
"Dad, stop beating Heidi. She didn't mean it. I lost my footing just now."
"Humph! I saw it with my eyes, how could I misjudge her? Tiana, I know you're a kind-hearted person, stop defending this evil girl!"
Heidi could not help but get up from the ground with a little swaying after hearing Timothy's words.
"Tiana, put away your hypocrisy, you make me sick!" said Heidi sarcastically with her scornful eyes.
Heidi's words made Timothy's blood boil, and his voice was getting much louder. "Look how terrible your behavior is! You're at a loss of grace as a young lady when you talk in such a rude manner!"
Timothy had trained Heidi since her early years so that she could be a gorgeous lady in the future. He was pissed off by her lack of manners.
"Rude?" Heidi sneered, staring at Timothy with her expressionless almond eyes.
"You're right, I'm just too mean to kneel at the door for more than an hour to beg for your help, and I nearly got hit by Tiana's car. Now, you slap me before you get everything clear! You're just hoping that I could get out of your face immediately, am I right?"
Timothy was stunned for a moment when he heard Heidi's words, he asked Tiana doubtfully, "Did you hit your sister with your car just now?"
"I didn't!" Tiana shook her head in panic. She bit her lip and there were tears in her eyes, she said, "It's dark and raining outside, and Heidi is kneeling at the door. I didn't realize she was there..."
Timothy's face turned gloomy when he heard Tiana's words, then he yelled at Heidi, "Why can't you just leave your sister alone when you know that she didn't mean to hurt you? You're too mean! It's such a shame for me to have a daughter like you, you sullied the name of the Snyder Family!"
"Did Timothy just say that he is ashamed of me?" Heidi thought to herself.
She looked down and sneered, "Me too! I can't believe that I have such a ruthless father like you!"
Timothy got furious again when he heard Heidi's words.
He was the man at the helm of the Snyder Family, and he was Heidi's father as well. He would never let his daughter defy his authority.
"So you're growing stubborn now, aren't you? How dare you challenge my authority as your father! Get real! I won't give you a penny, even if your mother passes away from her illness! Get out of here! Get out of the Snyder Family!"
Heidi looked up stubbornly. She looked calm even though her heart was broken, yet she remained pitifully defiant.
She decided to break ties with the Snyder Family due to Timothy's ruthless behavior!
"Listen up!" Heidi's clear voice pierced through the rainy night, barrelling into people's hearts. "I, Heidi Snyder, swear that I'm no longer related to the Snyder Family from now on, and I would never come back to this place again! I'll surely come to a bad end if I break my vow!"
Timothy was astonished by the expression of determination on her face. He was trying to give himself an out, while Tiana stammered, "Dad, why is Heidi being so rude to you? It's inappropriate for a daughter to treat her father in this way..."
Timothy was enraged at Tiana's words and lost his mind. He pointed his finger at Heidi and swore, "From now on, I, Timothy Snyder, am no longer your father anymore! Get out of here! Get out of here right now!"
Heidi cast a deep gaze at Timothy, with calm limpid eyes after being hurt by his words.
She breathed a sigh of relief after she left the Synder residence. Her legs gave out in an instant and she fell on the muddy grass.
She cried in the rain, she was being pushed over the edge.
Heidi was flurried, and she thought to herself, "What should I do?
Timothy was so heartless that he was unwilling to pay the operation fees for her mother, but she needed to proceed with surgery!
Nine hundred thousand dollars might just be a small change for the Snyder Family, but it was the money that could save a life for the both of them!
What should she do? What should she do?"
Heidi thought about all the people she knew. In the end, she could only pin her hopes on her boyfriend, Francisco Lacey.
Francisco was the young master of the Lacey Family. He was a business-minded person although he was born well off. He started his own business before graduating from college. He had a large-scale company and he was worth ten million dollars by his own efforts.
Francisco made a move on Heidi when she was in her junior year. She felt nothing for him in the first place, it was her parents' marriage that changed her mindset. She would be grateful if she could have a partner who was diligent and self-motivated and also treated her well.
Heidi had secretly decided to marry Francisco and spend the rest of her life together with him the moment she promised to be his girlfriend.
However, she preferred to have an equal relationship. She rarely spent Francisco's money on dates.
But she had to borrow money from Francisco to pay for her mother's medical expenses. It seemed that he would not turn her down.
Heidi arrived at Francisco's premium apartment half an hour later.
It was already twelve. She stood at the door, took a few deep breaths, and got herself into a proper mental state. Then she unlocked the door with her fingerprint and walked into the house.
She noticed that the living room was in a mess as soon as she entered the house.
There were men's leather shoes, women's high heels and lingerie...
The clothes were scattered along the entrance to the master bedroom, and Heidi understood at once what was going on.
"Is Francisco cheating on me?"
Heidi stifled as the idea flashed in her mind, and she went blank in an instant.
Her soaked clothes stuck to her skin, and the water droplets on her face slipped down her cheek, then it fell to her neck and disappeared. Heidi felt frozen to the core even though it was a sweltering summer night.
She could hear a faint growl of a man and a woman's moan from the master bedroom. She was frozen in place, only then did she slowly walk towards the room.
"Gosh! You're such a bad boy. Ah!" The woman panted and groaned.
"You little fox, you make me crazy!" The man grunted, and soon there was a reciprocal bumping sound that could be heard.
Heidi stood at the door, listening to the two people's voices which she was familiar with. Her mind went blank as if she had been struck by lightning. She stood still at the door and her face turned pale!
