Geneva or Gene for short. I was the future Alpha of my pack. A small town tucked away behind mountains and rivers sworn to protect us from invaders. I walked along the pack and watched the day go by as children ran by and male shifters carried wood for the evening bonfire.

All this peace came at a price, just like my title.

“Gene,” a woman with grey hair beckoned me.

She turned and walked down a stony road that led to the forest. She was dressed in her morning workout clothes. Celeste was a member of the pack elders and my father’s trusted advisers.

“What’s going on?” I asked as I fell in step with her.

“We need you to do a little pack business.” She said.

I raised a brow. “Like what?”

She chuckled, “Don’t worry, you don’t have to sit at the table with the rest of the shifters and listen to them talk all day.”

I sighed. One of the many jobs that come with being the alpha’s daughter.

“Then what’s this about?”

“Well, it’s sort of a scouting mission. There’s a party—”

I laughed, “You want me to go to a party?”

She nodded, “An oil tycoon’s hosting a party this evening and we want you to check it out.”

I raised a brow. “That needs pack attention?”

She nodded, “He’s actually a rouge wolf. Rouge wolves with money are more dangerous than you think. We know a lot of surrounding pack members are attending. You should go too. Don’t get carried away with all the rich men though Geneva. You know your major duty to the pack.”

I nodded. How could I forget?

“What do you want me to do anyway?” I asked.

“Oh, just listen in. Listen for anything suspicious.”

I took my orders and went back to my little one-bedroom apartment to get ready for this evening. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Celeste said about my duty to the pack. In order to keep peace in my pack and keep it safe my pack made a deal with the Blue Moon Pack.

It was a deal that hurt me more than anyone else. I had to marry their Alpha and damn it I didn’t even know his name much less what he looked like. He didn’t know what I looked like either.

Sooner or later the Alpha and I would have to get married, but word on the gossip mill was he had a mistress. One he was in love with which was why he had prolonged our engagement. The last thing I wanted was to be a man’s wife but still be the other woman. It didn’t matter my heart was the biggest casualty in all this.

I got dressed in a tight black leather dress and slipped into a pair of wedges. I stood in the mirror and felt sexy beyond I had ever felt before. I let my jet black hair tumble down my back and fall over my shoulders in big curls. I couldn’t get my hopes up, but no one said I couldn’t flirt.

The pack car was waiting for me with a shifter driver who was going to act as my body guard. I groaned. I’m an Alpha female. I could protect him and me.

***

The party was on yacht. I told my bodyguard to stay put in the car. I didn’t need a babysitter. The yacht was still tied to the dock thankfully. A few meters away was a mansion standing at five feet tall. Wow, he really was rich.

The sound of heavy music alerted me to DJ at the corner. The smell of shifters filled my nostrils. Not just wolves, but cat shifters, vampires and fae. There was one shifter that grabbed my attention. I groaned. I walked to the bar to get away from her.

I ordered a blend of gin and coke with ice. In true bitchy fashion she followed me to the bar and settled next to me.

“Look what the animals dragged out. Who knew you ever left your hideaway in the trees.” Alexa pulled her lips into a devilish grin.

The woman who shared my eyes, but not hair color smirked at me devilishly. A red sexy dressed hugged each of her curves making her the target for most of the lust filled creatures here. I looked away. My half-sister was just short of jealous and bitter. Our father decided to let her stay with her mother pack and never had much contact with her. Now she hated me because of his shit.

“What do you want Alexa?” I said, sipping on the alcohol.

“I came to talk to my dear sister. Heard your man has a woman on the side. What? Couldn’t keep him satisfied.”

“You shouldn’t listen to gossip. It’s none of your business anyway.”

Alexa burst into laughter. “So it is true. You must feel awful. Hurts to know you’re not good enough.”

“Shut up Alexa. You and I don’t even have to talk.” I shot back.

Alexa laughed bitterly. “Look who sounds like a little bitch now.”

I groaned and brought the glass up to my lips. I was on a mission. Just as Alexa kept blowing my ear off someone turned me around. I slipped my drink and gasped. I looked up to discover a man with square shoulders in a black silk shirt with clear blue eyes. I was drawn into him like a fly to a flame.

“It’s you.” He said, his voice husky but sweet like honey.

I brushed hair out of my face. What was he talking about?

He gripped my shoulders and looked me straight in the eye. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”

“For me?”

“For her?!” Alexa spat. Jealousy dripped from her voice and blended into her scent.

“I think you’re mistaken…” I couldn’t get the rest of my sentence out of the way. The man with the perfect blue eyes cupped my cheeks and pressed his lips against mine.

In front of everyone at the bar. Alexa growled and stormed off. Good riddance. I should have pushed him away because I was engaged. Instead I let him kiss me. I opened my mouth up let him dart his tongue inside. I melted like butter into him and he was only pulling me closer. Who was he?
